    Collecting from a Defunct Business

    eric1977 Newbie
I have a debtor who has recently closed his restaurant and claim they no longer have any assets (corporation). The debt is around $1000. Should I file against them (representing myself) in Small Claims and get a judgement against the corporation for ten years, or should I send the debt to a collections agent who will probably not be able to collect the money either, but can pursue the debt for three years while I write it off my books?

Any advice offered is GREATLY appreciated!
