Hi, Melissa. Welcome to the community. Starting a business is a great adventure, and it can be daunting. In order to know where to start, the first thing you'll want to do is to develop your business plan. A business plan can serve as a road map for you as your business grows, and it can be a touchstone to make sure you're still on track following changes in business climate and workload. If you type, "Business plan" into the content search bar, above, you will be presented with several articles on the subject, as well as forum posts that mention the term. Feel free to check out all the information that's already been posted, and feel free to post questions in the forums as they arise. I found a couple of articles you might want to check out:
While these were published some time ago, their advice is still relevant. I'd encourage you to do a search yourself and take a look at any articles or discussions that come up. You're always welcome to post a discussion with specific questions. You can choose where you post will appear by choosing "Change" in the preview area below, and you can add tags to your post to increase the likelihood of our members seeing it.
Lastly, as our members will tell you, contacting a representative of your local SCORE office can be very beneficial and is always free. They will help you find a mentor, write a business plan, and learn about local regulations and options. You can find your local SCORE office by typing "SCORE local chapter" in your browser's search bar. Good luck! I hope you'll keep us posted as your business develops and grows.
