Most of the companies we’ve spotlighted on this list are ones that produce the food themselves. They may be companies that are dedicated to natural products, and they may be dedicated to health and wellness, but they sell what they make. The company we’re spotlighting today is a little different. It’s an aquarium. The Monterey Bay Aquarium to be exact.
The Monterey Bay Aquarium’s focus is still on healthy natural foods and wellness, but it goes beyond that. They’ve created a list of businesses that catch and/or sell fish responsibly in order to protect the natural habitats that exist within our oceans. Their list helps consumers and other businesses make healthy choices for consumption and smart choices to guarantee thriving oceans. The list points out which seafood items are “best choices,” ”good alternatives,” and which ones to “avoid.” They are taking on the responsibility of educating consumers so that together we can create an environment that allows for sustainable, responsible fishing for years to come.
You may not know it, but at least 85% of the world’s fisheries are fished to capacity or over-fished completely. If the amount of fish continue to dwindle our oceans biospheres will die, which could be disastrous for life as we know it. Check out some of these documentaries to learn the truth regarding the delicate ecosystems within our oceans, and how quickly mankind is destroying them.
We appreciate the work this organization is putting in to protect our planet’s most valuable resource. Thank you Monterey Bay Aquarium!

Hi powellchris42,
Wonderful for you to post this important information! The Monterey Bay Aquarium is a great place to visit and that aquarium is on the visiting list for many who are in the area.
But, as you say, they go one step farther by creating their list of "businesses that catch and/or sell fish responsibly in order to protect the natural habitats that exist within our oceans". This is something that many will find informative, especially when shopping or in dining out.
For those who have not had the opportunity to visit them, check out their webpage for great information
