Don't leave out Instagram and Pinterest, which both drive sales, not to mention FaceBook
Amazon in it's own way, with the share feature after a purchase can also be a big mover as it posts to social media if you allow it. I've also had folks buy movies that they've seen me watch when my Netflix posts my activity.
I'm sure there are more great examples out there. Anyone with more to add?
Ya Pinterest the best source for business traffic. Instagram ? I dont have much experience with it.
Thanks for adding up some more info.
If you do retail you should really check out Instagram
What are the advantages of instagram?
There are several benefits for a business owner, especially in retail.
1. In a way it takes the best from FaceBook and Twitter. You aren't limited by an algorithm as far as reach like in FaceBook. Every post reaches every one of your followers. And with hashtags, which originated with Twitter, you can expand that reach. Which means more reach and that = more engagements.
2. On any social network, people are inundated with business owners and marketers trying to get their attention. A blog post takes time to read. A video takes time to watch. But a meme or image that conveys a message can be instantly absorbed.
3. Any business that has a visual element, like retail products, food for restaurants, etc. can instantly share what's new in their business. It's fun for business owners to set up little photo shoots of their people and products.
4. Images initiate emotion better than text. And sales is the creation of an emotion. Emotion is what drives impilse buying.
It goes beyond just retail and larger companies too. You can share company events, show pictures of the staff, which leads to trust, another important customer loyalty and buying trigger.
Users interact with image-based content more than any other form of content on social networks.

Great feedback & information! Thanks for sharing.
People love to have real people reviews and recommendations. Of course, this is by definition social. I have found that in working with small contractor businesses that getting reviews is hard because they deal in big ticket items and only a small number of clients in any one year. Most customers don't want to sign up for something like Google Plus or DexKnows just to leave a review.
A great alternative (albeit costs money) is Customer Lobby. They get customer reviews without making the customer sign up. Works great for getting REAL reviews.
