Businesses are slowly realizing the amazing potentiality of social media to attract both existing and new customers. Hundreds of millions of users utilize these platforms to communicate with each other and no doubt, it is an amazing place to showcase your brand to so many people at one time. Importance is given more on quality and unique contents.
Do you think that the smaller the business, the more important it is that they grasp the potential of social media ? I do think it a mistake if companies view social media as only a venue to advertise with.
Keep in mind social media does not work for all business types. I've had several clients jumping up and down and wanted to do so much on Facebook, etc but again depending on the business put a large emphasis on Facebook doesn't make sense. Especially B2B businesses. Facebook is more consumer based, watercooler chatter vs serious substance. Networking on Linkedin and leveraging your connections can pay more dividend then posting a ton of 'stuff'.
I think it's very important to choose the network that is most relevant to your industry as well as something you enjoy.
If you don't like to do it, you won't. Then you've created 100 social profiles and they're unmanaged. Find a balance!
Thanks for sharing your insight joshuawilson,
I agree, the 4 social marketing trends you identified will be among the most influential social media trends in 2014. Another noteworthy trend that is likely to continue in 2014 is the use of reputation management in social media. In the upcoming year, use of social reputation management services and tools is becoming more prominent as the use of social sites continues to soar.
Has anyone in the community used social media reputation services?
I agree with your opinion but it depends upon kinds, types of business. A corporate message spreads from user to user and presumably resonates because it appears to come from a trusted, third-party source, as opposed to the brand or company itself. Hence, this form of marketing is driven by word-of-mouth, meaning it results in earned media rather than paid media.
What about the Personalized E-mail campaigns?
I think this will be more handy and will replace traditional email campaigns.
Read this blog post on the upcoming social media trends in 2014; this will provide a great insight on this discussion topic.
What do you consider a personalized e-mail campaign? Including the recipients name? Personalizing the topics, frequency, etc? If so, how is that different from a 'traditional' e-mail campaign?
Your link does not discuss this or mention e-mails.
