Steve Strauss reminds us of the original meaning of Memorial Day, formerly called Decoration Day in his article: Ways to Honor Local Service Members. I will admit that I didn't realize it has been around since 1868.
We, all, value the work and dedication of our military. Thanking them for what they have sacrificed for us is just one proactive way we can honor them. Steve has reminded us of some other options, too. He comments: "One of the best things you can do to show your appreciation for our military is to hire a veteran." He, then, goes on to list a few ways we can positively show our appreciation.
