Welcome Stephen. Tell us more
Your question is very broad and open ended.
CRM is so important especially for salesteam. We had a CRM called Magmanager that was perfect for what we do at our place of business and a salesperson talked us into Salesfusion which has some very strong points but I'm finding our old CRM was much easier to keep track of our entire database and see the entire base of business. From what we were told we just need to get more training and in time we'll love our new CRM but time will tell.
CRM stands for customer relationship manager. This plays a very important for every business that helps in keeping record for customer details with their association within the company. It speaks about sales pivot channel. CRM tracks the record of all activity going on for a business and helps in analyzing the beneficial channel for the company. CRM Solutions can always be made as per the business nature.
I have used several in my career. Here's my take:
- If you travel use Salesforce.com - Easy to use, SAAS, very reliable. Downside, it's subscription based payment on a per user basis - stop paying stop using, what happens to your data?
- If you don't travel I like ACT!. Again easy to use, fast and reliable. Downside, you should upgrade every year or so, if not one day they will change the database (again) and your data doesn't import perfectly.
The Question what you are asking is CRM. Every company wants to have best CRM.
The basic and prominent facts about CRM what I follow is
- Understanding the customers
- Hold customers with healthier customer experience.
- Entice new customers.
- Draw new clients and contracts.
- Expand profitably.
- Minimizing customer management charges.
Good CRM relies profoundly on technologies, it manages and link information about the customer with the goal which lets you market and sell services.
The CRM strategy has been also changed because of new technologies. Technologies have also changed consumer buying behavior and offers, especially the proliferation of self-service channels like the Web and smartphones.
You offer great advice Carl. I am sure that many of our members will use this information to their advantage.
You stated that technology has changed CRM. Is there a type of technology or service that has changed the CRM in a negative way? I am sure Stephen, as well as others on our forum, can benefit from this type of information. What negativities can we look out for?
With the help of an example I want to elaborate how new technologies are spreading their hands. ING Direct, a Wilmington, Del.-based bank which has about 85 million private, corporate and institutional clients in about or more than 50 countries has its own facebook page.
Lloyds TSB Commercial Finance has added self-service features like "Get an Instant Quote" and "Get in Touch" buttons to ask service to call them back.

I’ve long used Highrise from 37Signals, and it’s fine — for what it is. But it’s not actual CRM, and I’ve never been able to make it an useful part of my workflow. It doesnt have an inbox, and I often dont remember to BCC client emails to my dropbox, so I end up without records of what I’ve done or said to a client. So what’s an option?
It’s not perfect by any means, but I think they’re on the right way. Or at least, their orientation are accordingly mine.
Today CRM plays a major role in enhancing the business activities.
There are some well know CRM solution provider like
We have used a number of them with success.
Sugar, vTiger and a proprietary one.
We settled on vTiger because it offers VOIP connectivity to our own PBX out of the box.
If you are using Wordpress as your web, wp-client.com is by far the best for managing your clients.
It depends on your business and what items you need or would like to track in your CRM system ?
You are correct donsu04, the point of a CRM is to track as much information about your prospect/client as possible.
Salesforce and Dynamics are overkill without full training.
We use vTiger because of its ease of deployment, less than 10 minutes for a complete server.
We manage over 600,000 prospect records and we have never had an issue.
Once the prospect becomes a client, we use wp-client.com to fully manage them in wordpress.
As far as hosting, most of the majors now offer one-click install for these applications.
It comes down to learning curve and how many agents you have to train.
Are you looking for a CRM for your website? If so, the websites i built have a built-in CRM tool so every contact that fills out a contact form on your website automatically becomes a contact and you can setup ongoing email campaigns to stay in touch.
