Thank you, I look forward to hearing comments. One question I would add to this is, what resources do the rest of you rely on that have helped guide your marketing strategies for your businesses?
I read your post and it is really good and helpful. People starting small business always need some good advice and guidance, so it is nice to see such write ups which you be a good guidance to them. It is necessary to keep a small budget during start-ups to market the business, and it should be done very wisely and should be really effective.
True, staying within a workable budget is important for any business. A corollary to that is that it is important to understand how much budget is necessary to get visible results. Different types of marketing channels have different levels of reach, and sometimes it is necessary to put at least a certain amount into something to achieve the critical mass point.
Good Article Leslie. I think the hardest part for me marketing The Money Track has been finding cheap ways to get the word out. I am on a shoestring budget. I really feel like the content of my site will market itself eventually, but it's just getting the initial word out there that I am hurdling over right now.
Thanks for the article.

I recently wrote an article for my blog on marketing basics, largely in response to questions I saw people asking here on the Small Business Community forum. Often, someone who is just getting started in running a small business asks the question, "What is the best way for me to get new customers?" Truly, the tactics that you use - flyers, networking clubs, advertising, etc - should be selected based on your overall strategy. So, to help give a grounding in the basics of marketing, read the article here.
