Well designed beverage areas are a surprisingly important contribution to productivity.
Do you have a break area or room??
Breaks are good because they propel people out of their chairs.
My bosses always seemed to put the water cooler where it was visible from their desks.
Break rooms were management free zones and it was important I believe , to have that area where people could relax and shake off the latest stress .
The biggest politics of course , in a break room is people helping themselves to other's lunches .
I have read of companies who set up break areas that would rival hotel lobbies, complete with video games and such. Wouldn't that be nice! Not sure how it would help productivity though. What do you think?
