I back up my stuff, business and personal, every couple weeks to an external hard drive. Mind you it's not a big deal if I lose the business stuff as the company has backups too.
With this customer, did you fix the problem anyway even though you didn't cause it?
Yes we did. Although our feelings were hurt it did give us the opportunity to be able to talk to the customer about their backup situation and explain the differences between static data and dynamic data.
Just the other day, we were working at this company setting them up with a new web interface. Citrix Xen-App. The progress was good. We completed the job on time on budget. The next day. The customer calls us saying that one of her files are corrupt and that she is loosing money. This was a file \ program that we did not even touch nor was it even remotely in the scope of work. Yet because we were in the computer we were blamed.
Later after investigating more we noticed that they were not backing up the files like they should have.
My question is this.
How often do you back up your data and do you back it up off site?
