You should take to YOUR lawyer, YOUR accountant and Your insurance broker.
I would suggest that you find other home inspectors in your area and ask them about their business - some will talk to you and some will not. But, you can really learn a lot by talking with others who have already been through what you are about to start.
I have been in the IT industry but have been thinking about getting into the home inspection business. I have a technical engineering background and understand home systems is pretty easy to me. I am in California and thinking about starting out by getting CREIA certified and maybe purchasing a franchise a little latter as the housing market starts to turn upwards. I get lots of marketing material from a AHIT which is a training company, but do not know how successful their graduates are at getting started with their own business. I have done a little research that says getting realtor contacts is key to getting business. If I start my own business, I would like to possibly start part time on the weekends if I purchase a franchise, the investment is such that I would need to do it full time and it is make or break.
