    Opening my own boutique

    mizjeszie Newbie
      Hello,

I am trying to start the process of opening my own boutique. I'm having a hard time, because I have no idea where to even start. The only steps I've taken so far, is finding the name of it. I know what types of clothes I would like to have in my store. But I don't know where to start the process on getting wholesale high fashion name brand clothing. Any information that you can give me will be greatly appreciated. I just need to be pointed in the right direction, and I'm willing to accept any information that you may have for me.

      Thanks

      Jess

I have two sites that can help you with starting your small business. The links to both sites are below.

At Small Biz Break, you can download a small business start-up checklist.

At The Solopreneur's Guide, I wrote a 10-part post series on the sequential steps for starting a solo entrepreneur business. Here is the first post of the series:

Well, I am new here and would hate to come across as a self promoter,
but I must say that a website is always a great place to start. Once you
have a web presence you can display your boutique to a broad audience
while also offering products to customers outside of your local area. Additionally, it serves as a great way to market your business to potential investors as it provides them with an insight to the inevitable success of your clothing line (even if you don't have a store yet).

I hope this helps. Should you need web services my company can assist you.

                Hi mizjeszie,

The first thing you need to do is to have a business plan or have one made for you. This will help with issue of budget (how much you require), licensing, location, advertising, contacts etc.

Thank you so much for you input. Does anyone have any suggestions on who to contact to start working on a business plan. I saw a couple of things on different websites. But it all seems to be kind of confusing..........any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'll prefer to have a professional assist me in working on a business plan.

hi! i'am maria, i have my own business and when i started my business it was hard because i did it my self. i am a tax preparer and i am sure that if you get a good location you will do good on sales, second try to search the web for any specific clothing brand, so you can get whole sale prices! if you have not started your business get your resale permit so you can save sales taxes when you buy wholesale. and the most important of all make a check list of the boutique, that way you have everything that you have in mind that you would like to have in your boutique. If administrative part get your ficticius name at cityhall, get city license and resales permit., when finding a location don't get a lease or if you do don't get a long term lease. if you get a month by month rent it would be better for you! for your sales tax report have all your sales invoice or recorded.

i hope it help you in some point my advice.

                        Hi MizJeszie,
Funny, we offer a free video, a free PDF download, and other free resources at our site all about how to open a boutique. Specifically, the very first thing you see at our site is how to get access to the video that was created specifically to answer the most common question we get from students and clients of our program, which is "How do I get started?" - and again, that's a free video and it comes with the companion mind map PDF, with all the steps outlined for quick and easy access.

                        Please take a look:
