Try attending trade shows, ones where new clothing lines are comming out and contact their events coordinator. Many times large trade shows love to have small business entrepreneurs attending due to them getting their product to people in new markets. Also see about joining your local chamber of commerce. I can say that a chamber of commerce can be a BIG help in starting a new business, especially when local banks attend chamber events. It does help to get in good with bank contacts. You might also find someone who has a good foothold in the local economy and knows investors looking for new business ideas.
Regarding help with financial information, see if you can connect with a community member here that goes by the nickname "phanio". He's a big help.
