Anyone know of a good, proactive managed hosting company?

    anugraha.blog Newbie
Hi everyone, my company is a consultancy in corporate quality management, we are not happy with our present hosting company. They never seem to anticipate issues and our website suffers from technical issues from time to time. This has even resulted in loosing some business. I am looking for a managed hosting company that will proactively monitor and maintain our server. Please share your recommendations.

          Try RackSpce.com. http://www.rackspace.com/solutions/managed_hosting/index.php?view=websites
They are a little pricey but their 24/7 support and SLAs are exceptional.

I've been looking for a good managed hosting server too, and someone recommended a company called Best It to me. He has high standards for who he works with, so his recommendations are usually great, but I'm wondering if anyone else has heard of them. They're based in Phoenix, and their web site is at www.bestit.com -- he said that they keep an eye out for bigs/issues/patches required. Does anybody know anything about Best It??

There are a number of good managed hosting companies out there and looking for
the right one can be a challenge. But what type of hosting services is your company

there are a number of good managed hosting companies out there. it depends on the type of business you have, how big the business is, and the type of hosting services you are looking for. also the type of server you're running is important in selecting the best IT company for you. ask the company if they can meet these concerns before selecting them. take care.

If you have budget to invest on reliable managed hosting, you always go with the big hosting company that operate and owned the data centers.

Make sure they redundancy in place cross multiple data centers.

Rackspace is a very reputable one, but they are more expensive.
Datareturn is a good one too.

Don't go cheap! Always make appointment and visit the data center yourself to see where exactly what your servers will be hosted at. You may be surprised that many so-called managed hosting companies are hosting your sites in crappy space with no security at all.

Always make sure they can offer Tier 1 backbone, so you get better bandwidth if you need.

Anurag, what you should look for in a managed service provider is that : (a) they should not only monitor your network but proactively troubleshoot, fix and maintain your network - Servers, Desktops & Routers, Firewalls on a 24 by 7 basis. (b) The preventive maintenance service package should be governed by SLA so that you can expect to fix any issues within an agreed time frame ETA (for your p1, p2 & p3 issues). (c) Also make sure that service is rendered by not just a set of automation tools (for monitoring) but live engineers who can remotely troubleshoot and fix your issues. (4) Support: In the event that you require engineers on-site, (in case if you need engineers in addition to you your), make sure that the company has the qualified resources that are available to fix your issues.

We offer such service to Small and Medium customers through our Global Network Operations Center (NOC) that takes care of the above. Best of all, it comes with a free anti-virus software (trend micro) to increase the overall security. Please feel free to give me a call (646) 259-3565 and I would be glad to assist you with any questions you may have. You can learn more about our NOC/Virtualization services under the section 'Managed Services' at www.seepath.com/virtualize_IT.pdf
