We have found Craigslist to be the most successful in our advertisement endeavors. Both help greatly in general online marketing with SEO perks although Backpages does not seem to have the devout following of Craigslist when it comes to searching for products and services in the free market. This is of course based on our design company's success in obtaining projects and retailing items, although we would recommend to keep on top of both of them for enhanced success.
In terms of side-by-side comparison in success rates, the numbers are generally 75% for Craigslist and 25% for Backpages with the same amount of advertisement frequency between the both of them.
Craigslist is by far the most used free ad posting site of them all. We use about 30 to 45 sites very much like craigslist and Backpages but always seem to get the highest response and conversions there.1 of 1 people found this helpful
I have good success with both, but get a slightly better response from craiglist. Check into Integiant, salesspider, Us free ads. these sites give flexibility. You can these and several more under the free resource link/category small biz help. at http://www.blabber.biz. the site has over 500 resource links It is my site and I use them all.
Craigslist is better as far as the amount of people that use it. From my experience, I've gotten more response from Craigslist and Google seems to index it faster.
Backpage is also good. Google doesn't seem to index it as fast, but the ads last longer and the options for the listing is better. They also offer some paid benefits at resonable rates that Craigslist doesn't have.

Agree with drivetraffic. Google indexes faster with craigslist. One issue with craigslist is that you cannot advertise through out all states which will help online businesses. But by far craigslist is simply superior.
I agree with the rest - Craigslist will get the most responses but it will also get you the most SPAM responses. Just be prepared for those. I have seen success also with Oodle.com and DomesticSale.com with the latter having some nice extras like being able to print up a flyer of you ad to put in different local areas. If you want a good one that you can list on UNLIMITED - as many cities as you want!- try Lundlist.com. I use Backpage, too, but am not sure of the results and they also don't list your views so you aren't able to see how many people actually clicked on your ad. Hope this helps!

Craigslist of course! I can't believe this is even a question. There is no other classified ad service which competes well with Craigslist (for some reason). Craigslist is really at the top by itself, they don't have a heavy competitor at the moment. Ebay can't even compete with the risk/reward factor on Craigslist.
Craigslist of course has its share of scam artists, but for the most part the community on Craigslist are business-minded folks. Good luck to you.

Hands down Craigslist works best for me. Whenever I'm selling merchandise online, I post there in addition to the other site where the items are featured. Never had one response from a Backpage listing.
So far, I get more feedbacks from Craigstlist.
I agree. Craiglist, has been responsive. But, be prepare for the spam.
