    8(a) Certification

    dashlee Newbie
I have been trying to get my 8(a) certification but am having difficulty with one proponent of this SBA program. I have to prove a "preponderance of evidence" that I have been socially disadvantaged. Does anyone have any experience with this? I am a 100% woman-owned small business (which technically classifies me as a minority) specializing in the excavation trade. There are very few female excavating contractors in the State of Washington. If I can get this certification, there are many doors that will open for me to obtain contracts. Does anyone know the magic words? Most times the big contractors out there see me as this little office girl trying to make it in a "man's world." The other part of the 8(a) program deals with being economically disadvantaged. Aren't we all at this point. Can anyone help me?
