Go to Members page and share some info.
It sounds like you need to talk to both an Accountant and a Lawyer.

MBE_4177:
The answer to your question depends on your goal.
Do you want to create different business names under the Business HQ because they have a separate focus and thus you want to market them accordingly? Or, are you creating individual companies to separate the liability - i.e. if one fails, the other companies aren't financially attached?
If you are trying to accomplish the first scenario, you can go to BizFilings.com and have them prepare a report telling you where you need to file your business names / DBAs or you can go to city, county and state agencies and handle it on your own. For example, I live in AZ and went the BizFilings.com route. I received my report in a couple of days. I am not required to register my DBA with the state, but chose to so I could protect it.
If you are trying to accomplish the latter scenario, I recommend that you meet with a lawyer and an accountant.
I hope this helps.

The best route to make it a conglomerate is to grow it.
Say Focused.
Best of luck,

Hey gang, I'm new to the site and have a question of a (how-to) advice...I have registered my business name with a general thought, but I would like to know the best route to take to make it a conglomerant (spelling??) Example: Business HQ is the main business name (all decisions and payments come to HQ)...next layers are companies: Company-A, Company-B, Company-C, Company-D different names and different services provided, but all companies are under Business HQ, now from this point I'm inthe fog...is htis the DBA form at this point (not that I fully understand what I have read concerning DBA but I dont't necessarily want to have to pay to register all businesses if I can avoid it. Any suggestion on what would be the most beneficial route to take. I hope I explained it clear enough.
