Re: In need of a restaurant business plan
doughboy May 26, 2009 8:45 PM (in response to cookingadam)I've seen several restaurant owners on this website. Hopefully they will respond to your post. If not, have you thought about asking your favorite neighborhood restaurants (if non-competing to your restaurant idea) for help? He or she may be willing to help you or provide specific advice. You may also consider approaching culinary schools. They focus mainly on the actual skill of cooking or baking, but who knows some of them may have a resource center on how to develop an actual restaurant or bakery. Doesn't hurt to ask. Good luck. -

DeanMalibu May 27, 2009 9:08 AM (in response to cookingadam)My plan has food...but this is an abbreviated plan.1 of 1 people found this helpful
Remember this though it is very important to keep your food cost LOW. That means around 25%. The actual and best way is to do this is to price the item first....here is an example. cheese steak $7.80 we now take 25% of that number. So now that item should cost "you" a $1.95 to make including all ingrediants! Actually make the item at that cost if it does not meet your expectations with size and ingrediants. Increase price and go from there. However remember I said 25% food cost over all. So if this item actually cost you 35% to make dont worry you have to get a 25% average of all menu items. Drink items are a huge money maker giving you a better profit over all. Hope this helps. -

MITstaffer May 28, 2009 4:38 PM (in response to cookingadam)i would like to make one comment about SCORE business plans, you get what you pay for. I have seen several SCORE business plans and they are usually junk. Go with a professional. This is a long term investment for you....Do you really want a SCORE advisor developing your business plan? Your business plan should be done by a professional. If it costs you a couple hundred dollars it is worth it!!!!! Tryout www.masterplans.com or www.vanswiss.com both are affordable and have impeccable reputations. -

First off good move. The way to go about understanding the market, financing your business, business startup and management is looking over a restaurant business plan. You'll want to take a good hard look at the marketing plan as well. There are a few good restaurant business plans online.
Take a look at these samples. If you like what you see I suggest you download the complete business plan.

I have the opportunity to bid on a proposed college campus restaurant and am in need of an example business plan. Is anyone willing to share an example? Thank you in advance.
