Re: When does "work" stop for you?
LUCKIEST Apr 11, 2008 5:12 PM (in response to designer)When does "work" stop for you. Every job is different.
Maybe you spend more time wondering than working.
When I read your bio under Members you are a banker by day then a designer.
As an Accountant (during tax season) I work 24 / 7 (except for this web site).
The nice part of my daily routine is that I do not have a routine.
Definately more excited because spring is here and the weather is better.
Well back to work (the grind), LUCKIEST -

I really like what I do, so "work" stops when I absolutely have to do something else (like eat, sleep, buy groceries . . .), or on those very special occasions when something (or someone) even more fun happens along! -
Re: When does "work" stop for you?
intechspecial Apr 11, 2008 9:52 PM (in response to designer)My business is my life, and my life is my business.
I do have time for family and friends, but my thoughts are always on business.
So for me, my business stops when my head hits the pillow, most of the time. There has been times when I remembered something I needed to do, and went back to work.
I do not know of a successful business owner that does not work this way.
I have dreams about my business to, so I do not know that I do actually break from business. I live, eat, breath, and sleep with business.-

Re: When does "work" stop for you?
intechspecial Nov 9, 2008 11:25 PM (in response to DomainDiva)I have had no choice but to stop when the stress of business gets to be to much.
This allows me to come back a little clearer and motivated.

Re: When does "work" stop for you?
Mongoose Nov 10, 2008 4:48 AM (in response to designer)Work stops for me when I have at least cleared 3 items on my worksheet and feel as if I had made an impact that day. It's true that it feels like that there is always something to do, but I don't take that as a bad thing. To me, it's a huge advantage since you'll always have a task to strive to complete. Maybe some feel like it cuts into their personal life, but it's a fine balance. I've done the 9 to 5 thing, as well as the 'work around the clock' deal, now I work when I can and plan my days where I have free time, and work time. I could be a workaholic, but if i overload myself too much, I get too demotivated since I feel like I need time to myself. -
Re: When does "work" stop for you?
blitzlocal Nov 10, 2008 5:03 AM (in response to designer)This is going to sound bad, but work never "stops" for me, unless you count when I sleep.
I was semi-retired when we started this company and we do it because it's what we'd be doing anyway,
regardless of money. So I guess you could say that we don't actually find it to be "work" at all.
The real success is when you've found something you LOVE to do, while also getting paid for it.
In that case, the time flies by and you don't even realize you're at work.
It's 5 am and I thought it would have been midnight by now.

Re: When does "work" stop for you?
intechspecial Nov 10, 2008 5:51 AM (in response to blitzlocal)I used to operate this way as well blitzlocal. I would end up getting burned out, so I had to rethink my way of doing things.-
Re: When does "work" stop for you?
Mongoose Nov 10, 2008 6:23 AM (in response to intechspecial)IntechSpecial: I guess that's what i'm afraid of with overworking myself - burning out. As i said, it gets a little overwhelming when all you do is work, which is why it's important to have just a little personal time, or a hobby to keep yourself occupied-
Re: When does "work" stop for you?
intechspecial Nov 10, 2008 6:24 AM (in response to Mongoose)I completely agree with you on this one.-

Hello. I was wondering, when does your work stop for the day? I have seen on 60 minutes and other programs how today's business people work around the clock. It seems gone are the days when you leave the office at 5:00 p.m. and enjoy time at home with family. Now, people are dragging home at 7 and 8 p.m. on a good night! If you don't do it, someone younger and cheaper is waiting to take your place!
For me, I do work all day and then go home to my 2nd job. I will put a few hours in and then break for dinner and TV. But,, when you do what you love, it doesn't seem like work. I also might check the computer before bed again, but this is a daily routine.
Many people are excited because spring is here and the weather is better and they want to get outdoors more. But, I will more or less still stick to my routine. They always say - - -"you get out of life, what you put into it." It just seems for me, there is always, always something to do. How about you?
