Well the only recommendations I can support is what Winelight said, www.worldwidebrands.com is one of the best source for drop shipping and Ebay power sellers.
The good start if you don't know which way to go is buying the list of drop shippers, then contact and ask questions from wholesalers. It cost a little bit, but another hand you are sure that they are not middle "wholesalers".

You can google up "fulfilment services" and see places that charge for square footage & per item fulfilment. Heck, even amazon offers it (but in amazon boxes & labels). -

First let's make the distinction between a dropshipper and a fulfillment center. A dropshipper has product that you sell and they ship. The product belongs to the dropshipper. You are doing the marketing for their products. A fulfillment center takes your inventory and ships it to your customers. So you might ship a pallet of inventory to the fulfillment center and they will package it into individual orders. You are still doing the marketing but it is your inventory you are selling.
Start by contacting manufacturers. Ask if they provide dropship services. Some do. If not, ask if they have distributors who provide that service. -

The best resource I have found is now called "One Source", (formerly Worldwide Brands) a company run by Chris Malta. Find them here >> www.worldwidebrands.com . Subscription is a little pricey but you certainly get what you pay for. I have never seen a more complete directory for Dropshippers/Light Bulk Wholesalers and the like. You can search for products by type or brand name, etc.........A very good tool. Also has access to the "Market Research Wizard" which helps you discover niche markets. Analysis includes, demand and competition. It actually tells you, you have an x% chance at succeeding online with a particular product. I am very fortunate as I have been a member for so many years I've been "grandfathered in" and no longer have to pay for any of these services. I highly recommend them.

I agree with all the great suggestions everyone else is giving. Going directly to the manufacturer is a great way to start.

1- perfect if you can afford the $300 fee and especially if you want bulk or light wholesale alone with drop ship
2- free directory and low cost data services avilable ...only issue is they just work with wholesale programs who drop ship
3- Great way to find suppliers in the trade show. You can see them live and talk about their program. You dont even have to go to the event. If you can find the show listing online sometimes you can see the exibitor list ;-)

Rather than dropshipping i would suggest you sign up with distributors directly. Rather than looking number of products, you will have minimal products but your profit will be more. Signup with multi channel inventory management and order management tools like smcommerce.net and you can directly sell through various channels.

My business is a start up that manufacture some very long lasting and high powered replacement laptop batteries that appeal to high end consumers. We decided to go after the high end market so as to not compete so heavily on price. Perhaps this can work for you too. You can check out our site www.SafeBatteries.com .
We sell to a number of local businesses and do carry product liability insurance to protect our consumers and retailer. For example, one of our best sellers is our HP MU06 battery that we supply to a number of local businesses and repair outlets. We either ship them laptop batteries to stock or mail them on their behalf. If you are interested to find out more just let me know I would be happy to talk.
Lastly, whatever you decide to sell, I would highly advise making sure the manufacture or distributor does carry some form of product liability. That kind of headache nobody wants!

Ways to Make Your Search More Accurate
Most of the time, you just want to find content that has a particular phrase. Here are the easiest ways to find the content you want.

Enclose your search phrase in quotes. Search will try to find content with those words in the order you enclosed them. A search for "marketing advice" is going to return content with the phrase "marketing advice".

Search for content that has certain words, but not necessarily all of the words in order. This is the most basic search. Simply enter your search terms. For example: accept credit cards This will search for documents containing the words accept, credit, and cards

Using OR. The OR operator links two terms and finds a matching document if either of the terms exist in a document. To search for documents that contain either "web design" or just "online marketing" use the query: "web design" OR "online marketing"
- Using AND. The AND operator says that the search should return content in which all of the search terms are present. To search for documents that contain both "web design" and just "online marketing" use a search like this: "web design" AND "online marketing"
