neilv Dec 26, 2012 10:36 PM (in response to Infoway LLC)Wordpress. It is easy to use. you can buy template or any programmer to customize for a few hundred dollar. also very seo friendly and can rank much faster and lot of online support. learning curve is very minimal on wordpress

Dustin Luther Dec 27, 2012 2:36 PM (in response to Infoway LLC)I don't have a lot of experience with Joomla (I did install it on my server to play with it at one point, and was not impressed, but that was a long time ago)... but can confirm what the others are saying that there are some great resources available in the WordPress community. For most sites, it's a great option and it can scale extremely well as you grow your business!

gravy00 Jan 3, 2013 5:07 PM (in response to Infoway LLC)I have used both Joomla and Wordpress and Wordpress is MUCH easy for a non-tech person like myself to use. Joomla is much more robust but in my opinion NOT worth the time to learn. Wordpress also has lots of new plug-ins constantly becoming available and Wordpress is easily customizable.

Re: Whom do you think is the best : Joomla or WordPress?
koln123 Jan 3, 2013 9:06 PM (in response to Infoway LLC)I have used Wordpress the most and Joomla a bit. Wordpress is extremely easy to use. As a non tech person, you can do quite a lot of editing and changes before you may have to call up your website design person who may not be cheap. Wordpress, as has been stated here, has a lot of additions, known as plug ins, which are almost always easy to install and use. The plugins are usually free with in kind donations being asked for. The search engines like Wordpress as the layout is easy for them to navigate. You will find that you will be able to do most of your own work if you use Wordpress. As a result, you will be doing a lot of your own editing, additions, etc, which is good since this would otherwise begin costing you. Wordpress also has a lot of info on the Wordpress site that is open source that will be of assistance to you. Good luck SBLD

Re: Whom do you think is the best : Joomla or WordPress?
alicenikolic Jan 4, 2013 8:00 AM (in response to Infoway LLC)Joomla is an award winning CMS or content management system which is helpful in building a website with strong online application support while Wordpress is a blog tool or a publishing platform which is powered by PHP and MySQL. Both CMS are open source web applications that are freely available on the internet. Both Wordpress and Joomla are quintessential tools for website development companies and their features allow various website development accomplishments. They are inspiring content management systems which help managing website application by using the same layouts.
But when it comes to design a web i prefer WordPress because of its user friendly environment when compared to Joomla.

webmastermaine Jan 25, 2013 8:48 PM (in response to Infoway LLC)I agree with the rest of the responses, Joomla is a great content management system but is technical and expensive. On the other hand Wordpress is easy to use and there are thousands of themes and plugins to make your website just the way you want it without breaking the bank.
Hope that helps!

Did I mention that Magento Community is free and open source?

Re: Whom do you think is the best : Joomla or WordPress?
seoservicepro Apr 21, 2014 8:19 AM (in response to jversiz)I've heard Magento is good, but back to the Wordpress question, Aren't there shopping cart plugins for that too?
I like sunshop for ecommerce. It's HTML based and integrates with Quickbooks and everything too. I can integrate that with a WordPress Blog on the back end or a Wordpress Site on the front in or just use sunshop for the whole thing.
Bottom line, everyone has their favorites, usually based on which ones you've tried and found easy to use. So, you just have to try them out and see which ones you like best.
Installing each one into a folder on your server is easy. Play around with them. Pick what you like. It's a big decision, so take a little time to make it.

There are extensions to sync with Quickbooks and are continually adding functionality, but for the most complex eCommerce sites, Magento is usually required to get the job done.

I will go with WordPress, it is more client friendly, developer friendly, customizations can be done very quickly in WordPress.
We are giving solutions for both the open source applications. We work on many open source application.

Re: Whom do you think is the best : Joomla or WordPress?
Vast Johnson Feb 24, 2013 5:24 PM (in response to Infoway LLC)Something strange we encountered a few years ago. We have a pretty intricate site that we've had for years built with Joomla. It took years to get any people to find it, even with the right keywords. We don't do ANY internet marketing, blogging or anything, being a brick and mortar with the same repetitive clients we didn't really need the internet venue.
However, my daughter built this site for a midwife at a Charlotte area birth center and the site got traffic almost immediately. She didn't do anything other than keywords, but her site was built with WordPress.
Two identicle sites, no marketing except keywords. I typically get the same generic answers like: It takes a awhile for Google to trust your site to log it, and when did you submit the URL, and you need to do at least a little seo marketing. Thank goodness Google Places is on the web, and helps the local business guy to get listed locally. But my observation of Joomla vs Wordpress happened waaay before Google Places was even a twinkle in Googles eye.Times have changed quite a bit over the last several years when this happened, but just an observation.

Moderator Jim Mar 5, 2013 9:28 AM (in response to joshuawilson)I'm actually back on WordPress this weekend. I tried updating my joomla site and it didn't back up properly before I did the upgrade. The Upgrade greeted me an empty site. Since I didn't have time to set things back up, I ended up just nuking it and going with WordPress for now. It's different than a couple of years ago, they've killed some of the functionality, on the other hand, it's a lot more SEO friendly than the last time I used it. I didn't need plugins for that this time.
We'll see how it goes.

Re: Whom do you think is the best : Joomla or WordPress?
inmotionhosting Jun 10, 2013 12:50 PM (in response to Infoway LLC)Joomla and WordPress are apples and oranges when it comes to certain website needs.
If you are making an eCommerce website, you will want to use Joomla over WordPress. While WordPress has plugins you can use to make a shopping cart that is nice, Joomla's Virtuemart shopping cart module is a better eCommerce solution.
WordPress can be customized easily when it comes to editing the themes; however, the functionality of the site is more important the the appearance when it comes to processing payments and selling products online.
I say Joomla is better.

Robert Diffenderfer Sep 26, 2013 12:38 PM (in response to Infoway LLC)I originally had my website set up in Joomla but there appeared to be too many security issues so I went back to a HTML/PHP site for a while. I heard that Joomla corrected some of the vulnerabilities but at the same time I found Word Press. I was comfortable with Joomla but I was the only one in the office that could update it.I caught on real fast to WordPress and it was simple enough that my sales associate who has absolutely no website experience, does all of the editing for me. Its very easy and great for our needs!

Re: Whom do you think is the best : Joomla or WordPress?
Robert Diffenderfer Oct 8, 2013 9:57 AM (in response to Moderator_JoleK)I disagree...it has nothing to do with what you prefer....It has more to do with how you want to manage your money and the application you are using it for. If it is E-commerce then maybe Joomla has an edge. I am not so certain about that anymore either. I am in business to make money just like you. I don't have an IT guy on staff and I don't want one. I can manage Joomla with no problem but i have been trained to do so and it is time consuming for me. I would rather be focusing my attention on my business needs, sales, and marketing. WordPress has made the website editing so easy that my office clerk makes the changes for me and she does not draw a heavy salary. It fast, easy, and very professional , and you don't need to have any website knowledge to make the changes. For me its perfect business sense!

Re: Whom do you think is the best : Joomla or WordPress?
seoservicepro Apr 20, 2014 5:39 AM (in response to Robert Diffenderfer)Couldn't have said it better myself. The easy answer is Wordpress. People say it depends on developer skill and such. Wordpress can be learned by almost anyone. And those good developers? They can do anything with Wordpress that can be done with the others and more.

Re: Whom do you think is the best : Joomla or WordPress?
emaderam Apr 20, 2014 8:20 AM (in response to seoservicepro)In my opinion, Drupal can be used to create the most professional websites.
The most important advantage of WP is ease of use, but it can't create
complicated sites. WP helps newbies to set up a nice website without any
knowledge about programing. Joomla is less complex than Drupal, more
complex than Wordpress.

Re: Whom do you think is the best : Joomla or WordPress?
emaderam Apr 20, 2014 4:15 AM (in response to Infoway LLC)Really it depends on what you want to do. I work on a custom built cms for large corporates and it's a bitch to work with, but very powerful. Wordpress is a helluva lot easier to work with but troublesome as soon as you want to create custom page areas, indexing and other highly customisable things. But I imagine that it's become a lot more powerful these days (I'm a bit out of the loop). I would personally stay away from Joomla and stick with Wordpress. Your another option can be Drupal. As you may know Drupal is the most complicated program among the most popular CMSs. But if you are a skilled web developer, Drupal is the best choice. A comparison chart of WordPress, Joomla and Drupal is available on http://www.threehosts.com/ratings/wordpress-vs-joomla-vs-drupal.html. You can also use demo account of WordPress, Joomla and Drupal via their official websites to see one of them is proper for you. My favorite program is Joomla. Joomla allows you to build a site with more content and structure flexibility than Wordpress offers, but still with fairly easy, intuitive usage.

Moderator Cath Apr 20, 2014 9:11 AM (in response to Infoway LLC)We have read a lot of pros and cons about these products. And I hope it has been helpful to those who are looking.
An excellent web presence is desired and one that has so many great features that the shopper will return again and again AND buy. We all have various skill levels and either product will appeal to different folks.
What I am wondering is which gives you the most 'bang for your buck'? Or do you think that really matters in the grand scheme of things? And what about the business owner who doesn't have a lot of extra funds to either create or spiff up their webpage?

Re: Whom do you think is the best : Joomla or WordPress?
aronmatt3 Apr 21, 2014 4:09 AM (in response to Infoway LLC)I found WordPress as more user friendly than any other platform for managing the content in a easy way. Designing a website in WordPress is much more easier than any other with the help of vast community support. I tried to build a website in Joomla and found that there is a lack of community support for any module and in WordPress you can find many plugins to build a website for you.
I am associated with a website design company, which you can access here on below link and from there only I have came to know these things.-
Re: Whom do you think is the best : Joomla or WordPress?
infinitiwindow Apr 21, 2014 2:23 PM (in response to aronmatt3)I've used both Wordpress and Joomla. If you are going to use a CMS use Wordpress not Joomla. Much better supported. Much better plugins. Much more polished.
That said I wouldn't use a CMS unless you really need it. HTML, Javascript, CSS3, and JQuery give you much more control and ability to change up the site to your needs. Wordpress is a pain if you want to take somebody else's template and alter it in a way they did not intend. Very painful.
You can check out my web site which is pure html/php at www.infinitiwindowcoverings.com if you want to see.

Joomla and WordPress both are open source software that comes with an easy custom option and offers complete free usability. Both the CMS platforms feature its own community and a specific user base alongside a repository of templates/themes and extension/plugins. So, which is the best one: Joomla or WordPress?
