Re: The Browser Wars
pstonier Dec 18, 2012 7:26 AM (in response to Moderator Jim)Myself and my co-workers use almost exclusively Google Chrome. It's considerably faster than most other browsers, especially Internet Explorer. At Paul Stonier Design, We build a web applications & websites and there is a huge benefit from being able to load javascript files asynchronously. Plus, the Chrome Extension store has all kinds of goodies. Just don't run a ton or they'll eat up your memory.

pstonier Dec 18, 2012 9:12 AM (in response to Moderator Jim)There's the standard Facebook, Tweetdeck, YouTube, Gmail, etc, but then there are things such as the SEOMoz extension for web developers, Google Voice, Angry Birds and BaseCamp Extender.

Re: The Browser Wars
pstonier Dec 18, 2012 9:24 AM (in response to Moderator Jim)Many of the "apps" are actually just quick shortcuts to the website, but it makes it convenient. Others work as a layer on top of the normal browser functionality. Tweetdeck is the on that I would be able to compare to running as an application vs in browser and it runs much smoother in the browser than in the application because it doesn't have to rely on Adobe Air that is very buggy and memory intensive. It was my primary reason for switching to Chrome. I haven't looked back since.

Moderator Melinda Dec 20, 2012 3:57 PM (in response to moneytrack)I personally do not care for Google Chrome. It's too cluttered for my taste. I like to keep it simple. I'm a FireFox fan. It does what it's supposed period, no whistles and no bells. It's also as quick asGoogle. I guess it depends on the kind of person you are.

Re: The Browser Wars
pstonier Dec 20, 2012 9:48 AM (in response to Moderator Melinda)I guess it all depends on the individual, but from my experiences, the general consensus has been that Firefox started off great and is still a very good browser, but over time it's become very bloated as they've added features. If nothing else, it just takes forever to open for me.

Moderator Jim Dec 25, 2012 9:29 AM (in response to pstonier)I use both, I'm even using IE on Windows 8 now and then. I guess it just comes down to whatever I'm feeling at the moment.
Happy holidays everyone!
