Re: GoDaddy outage: Hosted websites and email are down.
Video Guy Sep 10, 2012 4:17 PM (in response to Video Guy)1:14 Pacific Update: GoDaddy just posted "So many messages, can't get to you all... Sorry to hear all your frustration. We're working feverishly to resolve as soon as possible."
The hacker group Anonymous is taking credit for attacking GoDaddy and bringing them down. I hope they realize they are hurting thousands of small businesses in the process.

SBC Team Sep 10, 2012 5:11 PM (in response to Video Guy)Yikes! It looks like GoDaddy sites are still down as of 5:10pm ET.
I'm curious, is this affecting any small business owners in our community?

Craig Parker Sep 13, 2012 9:23 AM (in response to Moderator Jim)I'd forgotten that they supported SOPA and PIPA. Now I remember why I didn't host with them. I guess I'm on the fence here, stuck between "You Anonymous people are naughty" and "YAY! Hit those bleepards!"
Even before any of this happened though, I thought that folks should take their business elsewhere and not host with GoDaddy. Hostmonster has been awesome to me, and they're who I usually recommend. Nosupportlinuxhosting.com too, but not for people with no Linux experience.

applieditgroup Oct 18, 2012 12:56 PM (in response to Moderator Jim)The CEO said that the problem originated due to routing tables errors. Whether this is true or not, we' will never find out.
The problem for affected businesses could be avoided with redundancy in design. In this case SOA DNS servers redundancy.

Hi All,
Just thought I'd pass the word. If your website is hosted by GoDaddy, it is probably offline right now due to an outage affecting millions of GoDaddy websites. You can read more about it here at Techcrunch. Also, if you send & receive your email via GoDaddy servers, your email is probably not working either.
All GoDaddy is saying for now via their Twitter is "Status Alert: Hey, all. We're aware of the trouble people are having with our site. We're working on it." No mention of the issue's cause, and no time-frame for a fix.
I'm sure lots of small businesses (mine included) use GoDaddy, but if something like this can happen to them and bring our sites down for an extended period of time, it may be worth looking at other web hosting alternatives. I hope GoDaddy gets us up and running soon.
