It’s easy to put your health on the back burner when you own a business. Your days are often long, and “me” time is in short supply. It asks the question: what’s your healthy?SM
Everyone’s answer is different, of course.
Yours may be:
- A bike ride after work
- An apple instead of a donut
- Walking the dog
Whatever your answer is, your healthy is truly about you – what you do to make your life better.
You can share your answer – and see what others share -- by visiting
By the way, have you ever considered that your desk chair may be your worst enemy?
Health experts agree – human beings are not meant to sit at a desk all day. Our sedentary lifestyles are adding to the increase in heart disease, stroke and cancer – and a long list of other diseases.
Chances are you are reading this article sitting down. Researchers say we all sit for an average of 8.9 hours a day1 – and that’s not good.
But what’s wrong with sitting, you ask. Plenty. In fact, sitting is one of the most inactive things you can do. You use up more energy by chewing gum or fidgeting than you do sitting still in a chair.2
You can put a little “healthy” in your work routine by:
- Walking around when you have a phone call
- Getting up and taking a break every hour
- Standing up to do your work
- Scheduling a “walk-and-talk” meeting
Some companies have even designed workstations so employees can stand to work – rather than sit. You might want to consider doing that, if your budget can stand it.
Remember, whatever your healthy -- sit less and live longer!
