HI govcon101,

Fred told us at the workshop that the conference was only $149. he said that we would never have a chance to speak with 3000 vendors, one-on-one and that we should take advantage of this offer. he said that this was your first trade show conference. He never mentioned that you had to be a "graduate for that offer." I would like you to allow me to come to the conference for $149. Fred needs to make that clear. He clearly stated the cost of that conference and did not state $249, so please tell him that he must tell it like it is. There is just no reason for this kind of behavior of there is so much money to be made. No one needs to go on like that while trying to redeem their reputation. I know that this business is not his, and for good reason, but I am sure there is some sort of deal with the owner. That's what happens when you are in a bind. So please tell him to change that. These kind of tactics just have to stop or the universe will stop you progress. Sincerely, Lauri Rhymer

As far as the no-bid scenario, I can't cover all the components of the class here in a blog - just trying to give a few key tips. Also can't talk about what others say but will pass it on. I'm getting ready to go teach. Everybody have a great weekend - I know I will!

GovCon,

For what it is worth, FedBid.com's customer service said they have heard this before.

Response to Tobu - I don't have anything to do with pricing for the convention - I'm just one of the instructors. So have no authority to say anything.

Response to Liora - The "small business" arena and size standards are not perfect. Yes, a product based company per SBA standards is not set by dollar volume but by # of employees. That will take lobbying to SBA to change. Does that totally skew Fed-Bid? No since I have clients and associates that win bids out there on a regular basis. Are manufacturers sometimes bidding? Yes. But again, do not take this as a total skew as they sometimes do not. As I was not in Atlanta at the initial workshop, I don't have insight on what your specific question was but hoped somewhere in this ramble it was covered.

My son and I signed up to attend a class after going to a free workshop but we were both unable to go so we followed the process for a refund. When our statement came 3 weeks later, there was no refund credited back to our account so I called the customer service department and the clert said it had been sent in but for a credit and should show up on our next statement. When we received the next statemant, there still has been no credit to our account and it has ran up $180+ in finance charges. It appears we are being punished for not attending the class or they are using our funds to gain interest. After our experience, I would not suggest it to anyone beacuse they are very unprofessional at how they handle refunds which could also be a reflection on how they conduct their business altogether. I work fulltime, take care of my mother on the weekend, do books for my husbands company and now have to take extra time to take care of this. How fustrating!

Call your credit card company right away and tell them about this. THEY will help you! Also mention the finance charge and see if they will not remove it.

GovCon,

The issue I had was that during the seminar ONLY the dollar amount of $38MM was used, and no mention of the "less than 500" employees was explained as an exception. Secondly that "No Bid" was presented to mean that "no one else is bidding" as opposed to "I do not want to bid on this opportunity." These are issues that are easy to point to as misunderstandings - or issues that can be gently misconstrued to make the opportunity sound easier and better than it is.

FedBid is a legitimate company and opportunity. But this issue does call into question if B2G is skewing their own training opportunity.

bliz67 - I have no affiliation with B2GInstitute. Yesterday, interestingly enough, I got a client that had won a government contract and expected to be able to get a short term loan based on The Assignment of Claims Act of 1940 that B2G Institutes cites as proof of a "requirement" of the government to provide funding on awarded contracts. This is ONLY for construction opportunities - not for Teaming, not for product delivery. It's taken him months to get out of this mess - as a direct result of misinformation he received from B2GI. This means it is affecting his ability to retain a good name - and our soldier's ability to receive the supplies they desperately need on a timely basis. How many of our servicement went without winter wear because of misinformation? Too many.

GovCon - seriously, every day that goes by more questions arise from what was provided in that seminar. They are nothing more than half-truths.

I couldn't help but notice that on the BBB page copied and pasted it seemed to indicate that all 10 refund complaints were "resolved", as were 3 of the remaining 4.

I just attended the B2B pitch recently and decided I had nothing to lose. I have a background in government contracts law from private practice, so I am not unaware of what can and sometimes does go wrong. I would respectly submit, however, that this opportunity probably would beat what I've experienced in the law and in working for companies, where you are at various folks' mercy, face getting laid off, etc. If B2G can teach me the practical aspects, I'm for making some decent money. If it's 1/3 as good as they say it is, I'll be pleased.

I was looking through a local college catalog and lo and behold a course to getting government contracts. I bet that it is for less than 1/3 the price of B2G "training". Just food for thought there. Honestly be careful here.

LioraSterm - the Assignment of Claims act is for any Government contract that has that clause in there - not just construction. See FAR Part 32.8. If somebody told your associate it was just for construction, they got steered wrong.

Daniel - left you a message - call me.
