Web Position - very subjective....

I ask you this "How would you like a computer generated program querying your servers?"

It's like legal burglary in my mind

I know of so called SEO companies using differing programs to see what position they are on Google by querying Google's servers - do you guys who use/do not use these programs think that taking up Google et als bandwidth and constantly using precious server space are not annoying the server owners????

I own several of these programs but stopped using them about four years ago when I though this would be an issue with Google et al

These programs produce a fancy report - that's it.....

Lot of have been discussed here on the post. I agree with most of the stuff emagination and David have posted. SEO is an on going process and organic search results needs time, sometimes not just weeks, but months. It all depends what keywords one is promoting for and many other factors. SEO software's are most of the time are a piece of crap and should be avoided. No one can give you 100% guarantee on SEO results, if someone does it is just a trick that can work either way.

SEO is constantly changing. Which is when I was doing my research, instead of typing in search engine optimization, I typed in affordable search engine optimization. It was a little work, but I found a company (webwisemedia) and I put my faith in them. They did have guarantee's. Not for all of my keywords, but first page placement for my choice keywords is what they provided and thats what mattered. they promised a minimum of 25 first page placements and if they did not, they would refund my money. plain and simple. nobody can guarantee your keywords first page but, its a start to achieve first page placement for my general keywords which might take a year or two. and it was cheap, especially when i made all my money back in about 2 months.

I have already given my views on guarantee. I repeat that again, "if anyone give you 100% guarantee on SEO results, it is just a trick that can work either way". and you have been Lucky of those few for whom it worked!

I think there are two different kinds of SEO site owners. The first one are site owners with no time to do that themself, and I think it is understandable, they give the job to SEO experts. The second are site owners taking the time to do their own SEO. SEO take times to understand, and are changing all the time.

After a few years doing SEO myself, I found the need to constantly bring something new to my e-commerce. I am always surprise to see compagnies offering guarantee on top ranking as SE changing Algos modifications everyday, and main algos change often anyway.

My advises for e-commerce owners thinking about SEO, are first READ all you can find on internet about SEO before hiring or doing that.

You will be confused because Coders will tell you to make you site hand coding for SEO, (that's not completely true), copywriters will tell you to do SEO articles ( I agree but becareful of the prices, some ask too much), SEO firms should be carefully checked (I don't use them), SEM (I don't use them, but I heard they are less efficient compare to SEO and much more expensive), etc...

Make no mistakes, no one can guarantee top placements, if they do, they lie to you.

I forgot to say I do SEO and Online Marketing and offer no guarantees. Never have never will

Good SEO is a mix of many, many things and one thing I always tell people (if they can't afford to spend too much) is to be proactive and do as I recommend as part of your strategy it works most of the time.

NO GUARANTEES!!!!!!!

regarding the basket company that needs SEO - a few quick tips:

1. remove the google ads - they are promoting either adult materials or the competition (at least when I looked)
2. remove that ad at the bottom (submit your site to 3 million places - ANATHEMA of SEO
3. install an add-in for OSCommerce that creates SE friendly URLS for the products (yes, it's an OSCommerce site)

All the SEO in the world won't really help, as the site burns, even with the goggles on! It's like an ad campaign to get folks to visit a brick & mortar store, only to have the place look like a bomb hit it.

High cheese factor = low stick-around-and-buy traffic.

But remember, this web stuff is easy - anyone can do it, because we can all fingerpaint, right?

Following is a link to ‘*Web Marketing for Dummies*' - before you sign up with any SEO vendor - you should read this book fromm cover to cover. Published this year - it has very current information. My company, DalmoWorks.com is given credit for our search engine expertise and research which was used for Chapter 10 - "Mastering the Secrets of Search Engines") - it's an excellent resource for web marketing ideas as well.

Following is a link to Amazon.com where you can purchase the book online and have it sent to your home in a day or two...

http://www.amazon.com/o/ASIN/0470049820/ref=s9_asin_title_1/102-9049836-4608104?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-1&pf_rd_r=048SVN3KXPMYNPX0AE1K&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=279667201&pf_rd_i=507846

It's a $25 book that Amazon sells for $17. Well worth it.

Warm Regards,

J
