Ask each vendor for a list of their "top 10 customers".
Put the home page URL of each customer through the website www.websitegrader.com and note what score they get. (Full disclosure - I am not affiliated in any way with that website).

You'll see a clear pattern emerge. The SEO vendor with customers of the highest scores are, without a doubt, the most likely to deliver yor own website the highest on search results.

Check out the marketing tools from http://www.TheBlueKingdom.com. Also try more of an organic SEO by posting blogs, forums and writing articles. This will spark word of mouth marketing. But, make sure you are adding something that people want to read.
