I came across an offer for an "Unsecrued Line of Credit" up to 250k. This is somehow based on purchasing an existing corporation and having it transfered to my name. The qualification for the loan would somehow be based on future income of this so called corp even if it currently has no verifialbe income stream. The cost is pretty steep at 17k upfront, for which (of course) they offer financing. I have never heard of this sort of thing before, can someone please shed some light for me? Is it legal??? Is it smart???? It sounds like an open invitation for fraud.

Jason, I have written a post about this topic on my blog. The company that I reviewed is B2B Credit Source.

Is this the company offering you this service?

You can read my thoughts on this company here:

In terms of buying a shelf corporation, however, there's nothing illegal about it. Only you can decide for yourself, though, if this is worth paying $17,000 for. Personally, I do not.

Jason,

I have written on my blog about this very service. I just tried to post the link, so let's see if the moderators allow it.

If not, I'll find a way to get you the link.

Good luck,

Paul

Thanks Growth,

That is all good info. I had figured as much myself but thought I would get additional opinions on it. I had never heard of such a thing and at first it seemed quite enticing but not so much anymore.

Thanks again.

Was it the same company or someone else? If someone else, who?

Yes it was that same company. Also just for kicks I requested a copy of the paperwork I would need to sign and when I got it I found that it contained the following condition.

3. Potential for Additional Fees

When lines of credit are approved by a financial institution in favor of Customer, Customer will be responsible for paying an additional compensation to either the funding source or broker that arranged the funding. The range of these fees could be as low as 5% of the funded amount and as high as 30% of the credit line limit(s) acquired ("Success Fee"). The Success Fee shall be paid within five (5) business days, each time a credit line is activated by the financial institution while this Agreement is in force. For example, if two lines of credit are approved, one for $100,000 and another for $200,000, Customer shall pay a fee equal to the amount of $30,000 if the agreed Success Fee was 10%.

So basicaly it would cost me 47K + 9-13%int to borrow 300k. Talk about Juice Money!

Thanks.

Hey Jason,

Just wondering if you ever decided to move forward with this and how it turned out? May I ask what website you found this at? I'm trying to find something similar, but don't want to get ripped off.

Hi Rob,
I never did do anything w/ it. If you read the previous posts you will see that is it quite expensive, both upfront and if they gat an approval. I have not ruled it out completely but at this point is just a little too much money to gamble (17k). Also I just can not get my mind around how a bank would approve a business loan for a company that has no visable stream of income. In the end I would have to put up 17K that is non-refundable w/ no guaranty of approval and I did not want to risk it because i am not in dire need of the money. They do offer the option of financing that money but I was not interested in that. Read the few previous posts because I went in to some details about additional fees, it is expensive but from what I have heard those fees are the norm. I will say however that I was wrong about the interest rate, it is not 9-13%, it is more like Prime + 5% (so max of about 9% right now). The compay is called B2B Credit Source you can find them online easily (I replied to a junk email from them). I spoke to a lady by the name of Neema at 800-906-7706 x 218 she answered my questions pretty well but I don't know too much more because I never really began the process.
Good Luck - If you go ahead please let me know how it goes.

I saw this as well and thought it was a good concept. However after doing my research it seemed to me that B2B was;

1. Charging too much
2. Did not a have any type of refund policy
3. Did not take into account that personal credit scores of the shelf corp buyer are going to considered by most if not all funding sources right now.
4. Far too many red flags.
5. If you look closely at how they do business you would notice that they route calls through their 800# to home or other outside reps. Go ahead call and ask if the rep you are speaking to can transfer you to a suprevisor. I did numerous times to no avail. The always haveto have someone call back.

But again it is a great concept. Just has some design flaws if you would. I think I have those ironed out and have had success in making this work for a client. If anyone is seriously considering going this route I can honestly say it will work but in my opinion B2B does not have a clue how to do this in a manner that is effective.

Please explain how you have ironed out the flaws?

Thanks

I found one that uses a CPN and they are very careful and particular about not getting your CPN merged with your SSN. They then build up your CPN credit rating. After that they get a seasoned corporation and apply for funding with your CPN and seasoned corp for various lines of credit.

They allow you to pay by credit card, which was huge for me. That gives you solid recourse in the event of fraud. And also, they primarily make their money on the back end. They do charge up front, but very little compared to other services I saw. This says to me that they are confident their system works and will get me funding.

I agree that it's a very expensive way to go, but if your personal credit is not up to snuff, it might be the only option in a lot of cases.

If you want their website, let me know. I don't want to just post it unsolicited and look like a spammer or like a representative of the company.

In any event, I am seriously considering this option.
