I recommend a marketing plan.
The foundation of a great marketing plan is understanding these three areas:
1. Know your target market (what do they want, need and desire?)
2. Know your competition (what are your strengths in comparison to them: emphasize these strengths in marketing)
3. Know your own company (what are your strengths, what are your core values, what is the "personality" of your brand?)
Once you know these three areas well, you should make a "brand promise" to your target market. The marketing plan is all about communicating the "brand promise."
In the end, if you go through the effort to understand what your market wants, then communicate (advertise) that you can satisfy their wants, then you are on the road to breakthrough growth.
