Hi,

I am a US citizen who came to India and started a Hospital hoping that it will help the community. The idea was not charity, but for profit along with the satisfaction of contributing to the community. We could start the hospital after a great struggle in Feb 2006. The money I put in to start this project costed me my entire life's savings apart from the loan from a local bank. Normally it takes a year for the hospital to break even, but looks like this project will take more that. I have run out of money at this point of time and I have no idea how to sustain it atleast till it breaks even. I have asked for some extra loan from the bank here and they have refused to lend me.

I need some ideas to keep this project (my dream) alive and going. Any help or direction is appreciated.

Thank You

mahesh, It is people like you (who have charity at heart) that are helping the world.
Let me wish you the best of luck and see what this website can do to keep this project (your dream)
alive and going. Do you have a Business and Marketing Plan??
There was a post yesterday about needing money and one of the answers was to post a bank account number,
and the funds rolled in. I will try and find the posting or if any of the members can help find the posting.
Americans are a very giving country.
Good luck, LUCKIEST

Thanks Luckiest.

I do have a Marketing plan, but its extremely difficult to get good marketing people in India and the doctors surrounding our hospital are very greedy. In the sense that they expect lot of cuts in the revenue when they refer cases to us.

I will post the website for you guys to look at the hospital: www.apollohyd.com It has some pictures of the hospital also.

I am not sure how safe it is to post bank account numbers in this forum.

Happy Holidays and enjoy Christmas.

Thanks again everybody

I have given a wrong date of when the hospital actually started. It is Feb 2007 and not 2006.

My first suggestion would be to provide the name and address of the hospital, and perhaps more information and detail about the people who are involved with the project, and the people who have been helped so far. Specific information not only lends credibility, it connects the real people here reading your story to the real people in it. That connection is very often what inspires us to find or create solutions to problems like these. Best wishes.

I will give the web address again which gives a lot more info on the hospital. It is http://www.apollohyd.com Pictures can also be found in the Gallery section of the web page. The project is started by me and my wife who migrated to India in May 2006. We had a savings in the form of equity after selling our house in Maryland, US. We used that and got a loan by keeping our house in India as collateral. We raised about $0.5 m for the project and got a franchise from a leading hospital chain in India (Apollo Hospitals) to open our unit. Apollo provided us the necessary know-how and project information to get us started. Under their guidance we opened a Private Limted company in India (Chavan Healthcare Private Limited) and started the unit.

I had a reserve of some dollars to use as working capital for 1st 9-10 months and hoped the hospital would break even by that time. But we are still only half way to achieve break even. At this I am running out of ideas as to how to keep the unit funded. Banks are refusing to give us any more money at this point.

You can write to my email address: admin@apollohyd.com or chavan_mahesh@hotmail.com if you need more info.
