Hi,
I have very unique handicraft products imported from India and Indonesia. I tried selling in the flee market but was in vain. This was because the customers in the flee market are poor people who wants second hand products at very cheap price. I cannot rent a shop in a busy shopping mall as it is very expensive. What are the other oppurtunities for me to sell my products where I could target art lovers and rich people? Is it possible for me to sell along the road side? Is there any rules and guidelines to sell on the road? I am in Miami by the way. Please let me know the possiblities to set up a low cost selling outlet. Your reply is appreciated.

You could create and promote your own website - very inexpensive. There is eBay as suggested as well as amazon.

You could also wholesale these products to other retailers - attend trade shows or find commission based sales reps to get these products into other retailers. Your could also get out and contact other retailers yourself to see if they will put your products in their stores.

You could also lease space - I know you think it is too expensive - but most landlords are having trouble getting space leased. Thus, you have negotiating power. Set something up with a landlord who is willing to take a percentage of your sales instead of a fixed payment. Then, when your business takes off - renegotiate the lease for a fixed monthly or quaterly payment.

lastly, partner with another store owner. Ask if you can set up shop inside their store. You can pay them a small amount for the space and take advantage of their current customer traffic.

I think you should look into a website for sure, let me know if you go this route and I'll be happy to give free advice/opinions. You should know that there are free webspaces online also that you could use, like ecrater.com, which are essentially made for people in your situation. I hope everything works out, but I'm compelled to mention that just getting your merchandise online isn't enough, it will take work for people to find your site and be compelled enough to buy something. It's not really for the lazy or the get rich quick kind of people, though both have found sucess with online businesses in the past so....

Are there any Arts and Craft fairs or shows in your area? This sounds like your place to be. I also agree with the use of a website, either Ebay or your own.

Other options are Bonanzle and Overstock Auctions.
