Great question. I am a Quickbooks Consultant and have not experienced this problem (yet).
Maybe (by luck) none of my clients use BOA do not import checkcard transactions into Quickbooks.
We do summarize by Journal Entry many credit card transactions.

BoA doesn't post to this forum, so don't expect an official response from them.

YES, others have this problem -- the Quickbooks on-line community is full of posts like yours, along with stories of people getting both Intuit and BoA techs on the phone in conference calls (at the users cost, by the way) to try to resolve this issue, and both sides reportedly refused to change anything to accommodate the other. Last I heard, there was no fix planned and no simple workaround. But there ARE some Quickbooks experts in this community, so if newer information or a solution exists, I'd bet it will be posted here soon . . .

Thanks for the respsones people. The thing that really gets me is that the prefix of CHECKCARD MMDD is NOT shown on the BOA Account view page, it only appears on the download. This is totally a BOA issue. It would take someine 30 minutes to add an additional format that didn't include the prefix.

The only two choices for a fix would be to create a simple program to parse out the prefix after receiving the download, or simply change to using a regular credit card from AMEX or something.

This is the worst thing that I have ever seen out of BOA...normally they are on top of everything. It's a shame really as it really reflects negatively on them if this many people are screaming about something and they won't do squat.

Vendors (like BoA) will sometimes change code in their domains to coincide with the new releases of accounting software. BoA tech support SHOULD be able to help. If not INTUIT has a help number you can call.

BoA may not have a 'domain expert' that oversees HOW the BoA online/bank domain functions...there could be two code fields that are not merged. WAMU is famous for this problem.

I don't download anything into QB for that reason. I do all of my input manually and run parallel to the online banking.

I tend to agree with you. My thought is that someone in their IT realm sees this as "we're already doing them a favor by making this data available -- they can take it or leave it," rather than seeing this a business-essential service to customers (a service that only they seem to not support). Again, I hope someone can post any recent developments that may have come along since back when I gave up on it.
