Try 5pmweb.com - it's a totally new application on the market with a unique approach. There is an online demo and some short videos for a quick introduction.

CorpCons, I use Primavera P6. I didn't recommend it for this because it's server-based, somewhat complex to learn and use, and expensive for a small business (unless the business is in business to manage multiple programs/projects/portfolios for large scale retailers, factories, contractors, etc. who expect a sophisticated integrated solution -- and pay accordingly).

I'll second basecamp as a great project management tool, and if you look at their integration vendors, there are a few that can work in the time tracking and billing aspect from the project itself (freshbooks.com I believe is one of them).

No software to build, or install - it's all web based and easy to use, and from a company that is growing by leaps and bounds (not due to expire any time soon).

I have no financial stake in either website mentioned here.

Fakeblond,

I can provide you with a CRM solution if you are interested, this is a hosted solution, no software to buy or update, only requires an internet connection and web browser.

Feel Free to contact me for a demo.

Consider using MS Sharepoint coupled with MS Project. It will allow various parties to access and update projects based on the the access rights given to the sharepoint site. It will also create a log and track various projects at once by having multiple sites. Sharepoint itself can be a usefull tool in managing tasks. It will really depend on your exact business need and budget. At least this will be something to consider :)

While I'm a BIG fan of SharePoint, I wouldn't implement it for a small office due to the custimization time required for the solution

I would highly recomend www.basecamphq.com for it's simple project management and workspaces coupled with www.freshbooks.com for your online time tracking/invoicing. Since both are web based and hosted (no install)...you can get going in no time flat.

Personally, I use Microsoft Sharepoint and Project Server (web based MS project)...however, I'm in the Technology business.

Hi, Fakeblond :) Funny name by the way.
I've been struggling with MS Project for about a year, untill I realized I needed something more flexible. After months of searching I've found Wrike.com. This is a web-based project management tool which is used by many marketing teams around the globe. Why I chose it:
-it has Gantt charts, where you can drag-and-drop due dates
-it had time-tracking feature
-it has printable reports
-it is very easy to use and it's very flexible
-my team loves it :)

Just if you want to check it our here's the link http://www.wrike.com/
