My company works with thousands of businesses who have virtualized their technology to enable any time, anywhere business. Whether it's running QuickBooks Pro as an online application for businesses to work closer with their accountants, or enterprise deployments involving virtual desktops and all the enterprise applications and data under management, we help business owners focus on their business and not on their business technology. Whether it is software as a service, on-demand computing, utility computing, or hosted application services... we understand it and know who the providers are that can deliver what the business demands.

You're working with "thousands of businesses" -- really? The apps on tap concept does appeal to me and I see several areas of my practice where it could be beneficial. I'll look into this (and your company), then follow up later as warranted. Thanks for the post!

You had a chance to take a look? I am going to review the links later on this evening and I will check into them.

I took a look at groovecomputing.com quick. Basically, that is how our firm is currently operating between our two offices; using virtual desktops.

Yes - literally thousands. By volume, hosted QuickBooks Pro or Premier is the most popular. The Google Apps and Microsoft Live services are a bit too new a too "big brother" for most of my clients (however, the Google Apps email is becoming a great way to backup enterprise email, with the Postini service now built in!)

Consider that most businesses have Internet connectivity to their networks... but perhaps not the security staff or resources to adequately protect everything. Outsourcing IT isn't a new concept - network integrators have been coming to offices for years, with supervisor passwords and backups in hand. Centralized resources in a managed data center simply means more security and staffing to care for the technology. Often more physical security, more redundancy, etc. than what a business would have in its own location.

In many ways, this can be a more secure and better-performing option than in-house IT.
