I have co-authored several textbooks and guides (to which I own the rights) that are intended for American business managers or business students. I seek your opinion: Do you believe that if portions of these were translated into Korean that they would provide benefit to Korean-speaking small business owners in the United States -- or would the cultural differences in management styles be too significant? Thank you sincerely for your perspective.

Thanks so much for your kind reply. I was overwhelmed and so glad that finally my idea could be introduced to a right person. In my view, the key issue is to obtain permission for copyrights and publication, so that the imprints, such as books, documents, or any types of publication could be safely delivered to a right hand. Unfortunately, diplomacy in South Korea or Korea as a whole is very weak in her base, due to historical, political, social and many other aspects. Security also shows severe weakness, because industry of knowledge lacks any form of system to protect circulation of knowledge. And, if you have so many enemies, you can even endanger your neighbors and their health. My father works for a Korean consulting firm which publicizes so many professional articles, journals, particularly in the field of food and drugs worldwide. He is specialized in agriculture, and biotechnology of plants. He is an excellent expert in Ginseng. Unfortunately, he had so many enemies around and couldn't even think about owning his own firm with his citizenship. His friends and families take advantage of him all the time. Maybe, the story goes so personal. So I took his case as a good example of doing knowledge business in South Korea. They consider knowledge diplomacy unworthy to discuss about. Piracy and plagiarism are something you even dont have a "right" to have a say about. It is a "secret", "national security", and even a part of the nation state itself. I do not know whether or not my answer can make you understand better in your own language. So, my advice is not to be obvious and clear for your purpose, and be succinct and to-the-point. Otherwise, you will have so many troubles in understanding large perception gaps between you and your clients. If you are interested in Ginseng and its related industry in South Korea, you are very welcome to send your questions to my father directly at mailto:kwangtaechoi@hotmail.com for further consultations. There are so many scholars, strategists, military personnels, and so much more students and any type of individuals participating in its industry. As for your questions on the publication of your books in Korean, I would be glad to have your requests taken under care of right authorities in South Korea. Thanks. Quite the opposite, actually -- just a delayed flight and a terminal that didn't have an open bar (but did have a decent laptop connection).

kdoublehs, thank you for your in-depth response. It was very insightful. As noted in an earlier post, this project would be perhaps six months in the future -- but you have given me much to consider and explore in the meantime. Thank you for you assessment, and best wishes!
