Hi All,

I am software engineer having 3 years for experience currently living in Sunnyvale CA. We are operating software development firm in India in Web and desktop development, I came for business trip. My brother is driving the firm with the name IIntellisys, he has been in the software field since 6 years and now we opened own company in pune, India early 2008. We use to get projects from US from Guru.com and freelancing websites. However our growth is pretty slow since projects we are working on have been low budget, so that we are just affording 5 to 6 resources without making significant profit.

Now I want to get projects and need to approach clients directly in US. I have knowledge of SDLC but don’t have experience in bringing business to the industry. I don’t know the steps and ways to approach clients who need software assistance which we can fulfill with great quality. I am wondering to start cold calling by getting company contacts from Yellow pages, not sure how much effective it would be.

I am in need of advice, suggestions from expert members of community of this site. Any response will be highly appreciated. Also please advice how can I make partners for my company.

Look forward to response.

Best Regards,
Sam.

Approaching new customers directly, welcome Syed

One of the first suggestions is to visit trade shows. Spend time with the reps at the show. Have business cards
available and find out info on each company at the show.
Then follow up.

Developing a marketing plan might also help.

good luck, LUCKIEST

Do a pay-per-appointment campaign to get directly in front of business owners who may need your service. Takes the bite out of doing cold calling and its more practical then paying someone by the hour. Dont bother with trying to find commision salespeople...in todays market you have to have a pretty compelling arrangement to secure those.

If you would like information on outbound appointment setting on a pay-per-appointment basis, contact me at ajones@abcsolutions.cjb.net

Just a thought,

This only really applies if you are talking to new B2B customers.

I have done B2B sales for years now, the best results I have ever had are when I approach the business or other professional and I know the most I can about them. Meaning, I have things like, the number of employees, how long they have been in business, the owners name (or head hauncho), their estimated annual sales numbers (this is really good if you are looking for big accounts or non-profit contributions), etc.

The more information you have the better off you are. Luckily this place does exist, its convently free... www.manta.com
