LLC creation or individual contracting with city government?

I have been offered a position with a city but it is a contract position. I have no idea where to begin on weighing the advantages and disadvantages of contracting as an LLC (and therefore creating a LLC) or contracting as an individual. Besides the initial fee for creating a LLC, what other fees are involved? Social Security, workers comp, liability insurance, etc? If I contract as an individual what would I need to purchase to ensure my health, safety, and legal safety?

what state are you from?

did you try web search? there are a few resources that offer information according LLC establishment in different states.
