I AM INTERESTED IN OPENING A FOOD RESTAURANT IN THE WASHINGTON DC AREA,MD & VA WHERE I CAN CATER FOR A LARGE POPULATION OF NIGERIANS,GHANINIANS AND CAREBIAN POPULATION THAT LOVE AFRICAN DISHES. I HAVE BEEN DOING THIS BUSINESS IN MY HOUSE AND PEOPLE THAT EAT MY FOOD HAVE BEEN TELLING ME TO OPEN A RESTAURANT BECAUSE AMONG ALL THE AFRICAN FOOD THAT THEY HAVE BEEN EATING, NONE TASTE SO GOOD LIKE MINE . ADDITIONALLY , WHEN I TAKE FOOD TO A WEDDING EVENT, AND PEOPLE TASTE IT, THEY COME TO ME FOR A BUSINESS CARD WHICH I NEVER HAVE.
PLEASE ADVISE ME ABOUT GETTING A SMALL BUSINESS LOAN TO SET UP A SMALL RESTAURANT AT A GOOD LOCATION, AND I HOPE TO REPAY BACK THE CAPITAL INVESTMENT WITHIN FEW YEARS. ALSO, I WILL LIKE TO EXPAND INTO MARYLAND AND VIRGINIA .
THANKS
MARY

Hi Mary,

You are going to need a Business Plan and a Marketing Plan. For Business Cards, check out www.vistaprint.com. They have a lot of logos you can pick and choose. I hope this helps a little.

Starting a new business in Washington DC, Welcome Mary

*If I was go to s**tart a new business, I would contact SCORE. SCORE is FREE both in person and online.*
SCORE can help you with both a business and marketing plan and MORE.
SCORE counselors also know local bankers and that can help get you the loan you talk about.

Good luck, LUCKIEST

I would suggest you start with SCORE (score.org) or find a small business development center (SBDC) in your area. These are free services and can help you with all of your business questions - including writing and developing a business and marketing plan. They can even help you gather information about your target market as well as which area would be best for you to launch your business.
