I have been using www.1&1.com for over 4 years now and have found their pricing to be very consistent and the customer service to be excellent on the few occasions that I needed it. I would recommend them without reservation.

Do you want a better price or better service in a web host? Combination of both?

Just found these forums when checking my online BoA statements. I'm a Maryland based web designer and have been in the trenches of e-commerce for the last two years.

www.bluehost.com
www.hostgator.com
www.godaddy.com

All of the above have great technical support (24/7).

For domain name registration we use Godaddy.

For space we use www.webhostingmaster.com who provide space at $50 for 1 GB in India. Their servers are fast and suffer down time.

In comparison we have been using German servers and find them very fast, very little down time (I don't think there is anything known as zero down time) and very secure.

We shop around for server space each time depending on the application.

I use http://www.Fortune3.com for my online store and hosting, they do both and working out great. They also just charge per transaction based type deal so works out great if you own an e-commerce store.
