I am evaluating which online webinar/meeting software to use and would like feedback from community members/users.

I am consider Dimdim, GoToMeeting, and WebEx.

Any feedback on advantages, drawbacks from actual users would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Greg

I would recomend WeBex. They have more suppoer and great functions to work with. I can help you with this if you would like to talk about. I work for a company that does this.

Thank you

I evaluated GoToMeeting and WebEx. I decided to go with GoToMeeting for the following reasons:

  • GoToMeeting is more cost effective than WebEx, epsecially with larger events
  • GoToMeeting software in my tests has loaded faster
  • WebEx software is Java based, meaning if the user doesn't have Java they need to get it which add significant time to download it and the need for admin privlideges, the GoToMeeting software installs and launches quickly without the need for admin privledges
*GoToMeeting's method of connection works better for users behind a firewall from my understanding
*WebEx is more bandwidth intensive

However WebEx has some advantages such as:

*WebEx has video streaming
*The WebEx interface makes sharing certain types of content more streamlined
*WebEx overall has more features
*GoToMeeting does not have toll-free numbers (yet, i'm told its being implimented) for the teleconfrencing

In the end it comes down to your specific needs. For me I need to mainly meet with prospective customers, or host online training sessions for clients, I deal with potential clients from a variety of industries including high-security industries (of course since I offer Computer Security) like finance who have strict firewalls, and locked down systems that wouldn't have someting like Java unless it is needed. So for my needs GoToMeeting works best and also happens to be more cost effective which is great for a small startup such as myself.
