Here is an idea for anybody looking to establish a credit history or repair a damaged credit history.

I had a customer visit a local bank branch and establish a small $550.00 secured loan in which they used the funds ($500.00) to establish a secured credit card. By doing this, you now have a loan and a secured credit card to pay on and show a satisfactory credit history. By the end of a year, you should have increased your credit history relatively well.

That is a great idea - works for business owners or consumers. I think the article on the homepage also talks about this.

That is a great thought and I know all about rebuilding credit history, but the one thing yoiu want to make sure you know is that rebuilding damage credit takes time. It doesn't happen overnight. Pay your bills on time!

That is why it is called 'CREDIT HISTORY". It is your history of paying your bills.
When you have a credit card, even paying the minimum each month is good for your history.
It is also very important to get a YEARLY credit report, and review the transactions and
also report any unusual or errors on your credit report.
All the great answers do help. LUCKIEST

Iesha,

I may have options available to you if you were declined by the SBA.
Why don't you drop me an email at mailto:d.skolnick@skolnick-associates.com and we can discuss.

Better yet...

Your business can borrow large amounts ($25k or more) with no personal guarantee, without even a credit check, if you agree to hold the proceeds of the loan on deposit. Then you can make monthly interest payments for a while before returning the deposited loan proceeds to repay the loan.

This builds business credit in real dollar amounts because it can be done and reported to D&B and Experian Business Credit. You can have more than one account at a time. You can do the same thing with your personal credit, and have it reported to Experian, Trans Union and PRBC.

Also, in both cases, the lender will give you the option of refinancing their loan to you, using a BofA or other bank loan or bank line of credit. To get it done, the original lender will post an amount equal to your deposited funds as collateral with the bank. Now you become the source of a big deposit and a cash-secured loan or line of credit for bofa or another bank, a big leg up. See http://www.creditloader.com/
