how to find clothing manufacturers

Hi, This is Penn and want to start a new clothing brand. I have logo and name ready for use, working on Business Plan as well but I really want to know how I can find a reliable manufacturers in China, India, Philippine, Vietnam etc. My clothing line is lifestyle casual brand and I am targeting both male/female 16-21 ages, basically high school and college kids. I plan to focus on quality and designs. Any advice or information is greatly appreciated!

Hi Penn:

This is partha.I am working in Retail industry for the last 8 years in USA.I have experience of working for major US retailers and i am currently working for a retailer who specialises in Juniors and womens clothing.I can find you reliable manufacturers from India or other asian countries but the question is how do you want to go about your business.If you have a product still you need a retailer willing to buy your product so that you can import the same from other countries.If you are importing on your own you need to go through the US customs and other laws.Please let me know further details so that i can help you as i am looking for similar business idea.

Dear Penn: I would suggest you seek another industry. The headaches involved are not worth all the aggravation...which leads to illness and an early demise. if you like chatting till the wee small hours of the morning wondering if your suppliers in foreign countries understand exactly the details of your line, and then smoothing out things with your sales reps so that everyone gets along and lives in harmony without stepping on each others toes during the magic shows etc, when your shipments will arrive sometimes late and stores have the right to cancel, if you enjoy selling overuns to jobbers, if you enjoy getting merchandise getting hijacked along the way until you agree to pay; if department stores need to mark them down because no one is buying by all means...get into it. good luck
