We provide broadcast integration labor services and are trying to find a private investor that will take an active role in helping us build our company. We don't want to go through the normal bank provided loans as we really want an active investor that will help mentor with their business expertise. The investment is minimal as we only need bridge money to cover the payroll untill the A/R's come in. Is there anywhere we could look for such a person?

You could look for Angel Investors or Go to a company that funds accounts receivables. They will give you up to 80% of your AR and then take a fee when the money is paid by your customer. Example company that I work with is Hennessey Capital 248-658-1100

Hi, Do you know about SCORE?? SCORE is FREE both online and in person.

Hi Luckiest, I have my business plan ready, contracts are already being fullfilled other clients waiting to see if we can accept their jobs. All we need is the right partner! It's so frustrating to have the business and resources but not the funds to accept the projects!

Dianne, please be very careful. There are 'angels networks' that prey on small businesses needing money. You may want to read some of the latest response, especially about a company out of Ontario, Canada.

If anything seems out of order, bring your concerns sback to the forum.

Best, DD

DD - Thanks for the response. We've been burned once before so will be extra careful this time around. My lawyer will be on it like white on rice! Thanks for the advice.

Instead of looking for a referral network or angel group (who don't seem to be funding new companies these day) look within your own community. Lots of other successful business owners right next door to you that would be able to both fund and provide guidance. Network in your community.

Can also look for SBICs or venture groups directly through the SBAs website.
