I need to make a few calls to Europe, but I don't have an international calling plan on my home phone or cell phone. So my few calls would be extremely expensive. Can someone please recommend a legitimate pre-paid calling card company - so I can order it online? Or do they even sell this prepaid phone cards in the supermarket?? I've never looked before. Appreciate the recommendation(s).

Generation4,

I use Uniontelecard Mega Clean & Stable Phone Card. http://www.uniontelecard.com/

They have a variety of card options. One good thing as with other calling cards is that you can link associated calling card pin number to you cell, office or home phone numbers so all you do is to dial access number and would not have to enter the pin every time. You can also pay online and setup automatic recharge of the calling card when it drops below a certain rate, so you never have to worry about running out.

You can compare rate plans of other cards on their website

Hope this helps.

I looked up Ringplus on the web and it describes it as a free service, but you have to listen to ads on the phone??? Do the commercials occur before and after your calls? Or is it during?

My friend also told me about the company called Zaptel to make international calls.. anyone heard of them or tried them?

Just get a magicjack if you're not going to calling europe too much.

Otherwise look into something like Vonage if you need to call europe alot.

Wanna do super cheap right now? Just go to 7-11 and get a $10 prepaid.

You listen to comercial message onlt for 30-60 sec in the begineing and that's it.
The duration of the call depends on the country you call and if it is land or mobile phone

My family and I have been using Onesuite.com prepaid calling card for years and we are very much satisfied with their service. You can sign up online for $10 and use that $10 for calling US or any other countries for that matter at low rates. If you gonna sign up please put in the code A72C06584 under promotional box to get additional 5% bonus on sign up amount and another 5% on your first recharge.

I would second Skype if you can deal with being attached to the computer. Their rates are ridiculously low.

I think skype or vonage would be good for something like that?

Skype is no cost only if you are calling another Skype (Computer to Computer) just like talking on Yahoo Messenegr to another YM user. This goes also with Google Talk, MSN and other online messenger and voip providers. So its not really something special.

Now if you compare the rates, Skype isn't really ridiculously low. It's actually more expensive than other voip providers or even phone cards. Most countries I called using my Onesuite account is actually lower when compared to Skype.
