Folks,
Can any used car dealer share their recent business experience. Is it worth getting into at all? What kind of profit can one expect with the economy it is these days? How difficult has it been recently to sell and move the cars ? Thanks for your responses, much appreciated.

Regards

What's the cheapest way to get your dealers license? I'm currently dependent on people with dealers licenses. I'm located down in the miami/fort lauderdale area and have about 5K to put down but hear they rang up to 10K. Any ideas?

I have called Manheim several times and they keep giving the runaround without giving any details. Thats the reason why i am asking on an internet forum. I would appreciate the dealer selling/buying fee information from anyone out there who deals with Manheim.

When I owned my dealership the insurance I carried was Liability and comp, while the customer is test driving the vehicle it is covered by their auto insurance, so mainly you need Lot insurance with those two coverages.

I used the manheim 45 floorplan which charged a fee for flooring and about a $ 200 buyer fee, the fee will be higher if you do a full mechanical and frame check, this guarantees the vehicle will be straight in both areas, at least until you can inspect it yourself for a few days.

If you can't build a great car, build a car with a lot of great stuff in it. That strategy has served Hyundai well.
The
South Korean automaker has grown from a bargain-basement brand into a
global player by packing its vehicles with more features and selling
them at a lower price than the competition.

As for "What kind of profit can one expect with the economy it is these days?", I'd better ask about those days that will come soon.

As for software mentioned above, if you are going to buy at Copart, consider copartcrawler to manage copart lots.

Folks,
Does anyone know what it costs to have dealer license plates in Georgia? How many can a dealer have of these at a time? Thanks.

In an issue of Millionaire Blueprints magazine we have a section called "Blueprint To A Business". This is a very detailed, 10 to 12 page, step-by-step article focusing on how to start specific businesses. We featured a "Blueprint To A Business" How to Start A Used Car Lot in the July/August 2007 issue. It was a fantastic article and we had a huge response from it. You can order the back issue from Millionaire Blueprints Web site or check your local library periodicals.
