As stated above, I have everything except the products that I want to sell. I've been in the IT industry for 9 1/2 years and I am finally financially ready to startup my business. I have an online store that I have already setup, I have a storefront location that is ready for me to move into, there is only one problem, where do I get the products at a discounted price so that I can actually make a living? I would like to be a distributor or a reseller, however every website that I go to already has their prices marked up so that they make a profit and I would actually loose money. I would like to get my supplies and products directly from the manufacturers, instead of wholesalers. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

That is a great question. You have everything except the product.
It looks like you did NOT dol your homework. If you have been in the business for 9 1/2 years
why get a storefront location now with OUT the PRODUCT.
Did you sign a lease and are you now paying rent??
It appears that you did not Develop a BUSINESS or MARKETING PLAN.Part of the Marketing
would include how you would buy your supplies and products directly from the manufacturers.
What is your thinking, it appears that you are putting the cart in front of the horse.

Luckiest,
I have not been in business for nine year, I've been in the industry (meaning working for someone). I want to start my business now that I have the finance's. I have a location picked out for the store front, I have a website setup, and I'm looking for direction from small business owners as far as getting the products. I have been to the SBA meetings. I have not signed a lease or rental agreement. Thanks

There are plenty of wholesellers depending on what type of merchandise you want to sell. What sort of store do plan to open? What type of products do you plan to sell?

First of all what is your budget? You can start from there and decide which kind of products, quantity, etc... you can afford to sell.

Lowellpointer, it sounds like you are off to a start which is always good. There is always a service or a product that people want. Probably a good place to start is with your own life and things that you enjoy and need. You could much better relate to the needs of other people just like you.

Is there some product in particular that you need and feel would be helpful to others? From there you can trace it back to the manufacturer. Maybe there is a particular convention where you can get ideas.

Ed, I want to cut the middleman out of the equation and deal directly with the manufacturer. Do you know of any way to buy (computer) parts directly? I can buy wholesale, I have a few leeds that are good but I'd rather buy direct.

Yes there is a specific market that I'm trying to target... The market I'm looking for is the PC gamers, and enthusiast, along with the everyday people that want their computers upgraded without paying the geeksquad (bestbuy) price.
