Any passionate sci-fi people out there?

Hope everyone is doing well. I am a producer trying to get my first feature under my belt. I'm definitely prepared to go the slow route of making a short film first and seeing how it does at the festivals, but I've come across a fantastic feature sci-fi comedy. Anyone who has looked at scripts will understand me completely when I say that it is very difficult to find a great one. I have found a diamond in a pile of coal. Everyone that reads this script enjoys it, recognizes its potential, and agrees that it is a film that's got to be made.

Right, so I've got the script, I've got a crew that is experienced (Cinematographer from 'Saw', Oscar nominated sound team from 'No Country for Old Men', etc.) and excited about this project, and I've got a CG animation team that will really do justice to the space scenes. Now I just need to find a way to connect to people that can provide the funding (yes, I know... the story of every budding film producer's life). I've tried the sites that connect you to investors, which are breeding grounds for scams. I'd be happy to try to establish working relationships with various businesses, but I live in southern Arizona and don't really have access to healthy businesses that would be in a financial condition to invest in a film.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to connect with potential investors? This is not a solicitation for anyone on this board. I'm well aware of the rules of investments and I know I can't just put out a post like this asking for money. I'm asking for advice on how to meet with and establish a relationship with a person or people that could be in a position to financially back my projects. I have plenty of other projects planned after this first film. Thanks.

you tube was offering budding producers the opportunity to submit their shorts for consideration and inclusion to the sundance film festival. I am passionate about sci fi...I did not care for saw... I thought it was gruesome and I had to keep my eyes closed and had to turn it off within minutes of watching it.

see a sci fi infomercial on http://www.affordablewateralarm.com I'd welcome your feedback. I wrote and produced it. I think it turned out pretty cool.

in my ideal world I'd like to have Moulder and his cohort go into a home in search of mold because the folks living inside didn't place The Affordable Water Alarm near high risk water leak areas. Get it, moulder goes with mold detection which goes with water leaks that cause water damage thereby causing creepy mold infestation...it would also make for a cool stephen king film http://www.affordablewateralarm.com
Please forgive my bizarre imagination. I was born with it.

gee can you remeber the movie which featured stephen king sitting inside and mold and some plant like creature was growing all around? It was awesome!

it would have all turned out quite differently as the affordable water alarm would have awakened right away as soon as that plant like creature was growing on him. I don't think plants can survive without water so the affordable water alarm would have sounded at the first sign of moisture

Quick question once it is produced how will you get it distributed so the masses can pay to watch it to produce a roi? What is it rated.

find a sponsor like coca cola..or better yet approach this company called Purple...it's a new healthy soft drink containing acai berry juice so it's healthy too...are there thirsty actors in this sci fi movie you're making?

Purple and some of it's executives are a by product of red bull...you will locate them through the nasdq If they agree to include their soft drink in your sci fi...I would recommend buying a couple of shares as it is at an all time record low.

As far as distribution, I've got a producer's rep that sells their clients films at the market. They've been at it for 15 years and can get films in front of the big distributors (which is almost impossible if you try to do it on your own). They just recently sold a film starring Sharon Stone, Jimmy Falon and Lucy Liu. The financial bit is the only piece I don't have in place.

I would think that if the overall team, story, actors in this sci fi film is as good as you say you should have no difficulty getting investors to back you...especially if you can prove that it fits into a genre that is a moneymaker. sell, sell, sell

I think you may wish to contact potential sponsors like Purple...I'm certain there will be scenes where actors will be drinking something in space I'm sure they would like the publicity since most folks haven't as yet tried Purple. It's pretty good. You can find it back east in GNC stores and Duane Reade I believe carries it as well. As I said they are executives from Red Bull. did you ever read the story how this man that took a trip to Asia and was so exhausted that prior to his meeting he telephoned the hotel where he was staying and they whipped up this conconction that revived his energy right after he drank it. and such is the tale of how Red Bull came to pass. Of course he was a marketing genius as well...

PPS..is there a way we can include placing the Affordable Water Alarm somewhere in your film? It's a really cool device and no spaceship should leave home without it! http://www.affordablewateralarm.com

Do you remember which futuristic film contained the most sponsors and none of which are around still today? the lead star was Harrison Ford and it depicted a time of chaos and confusion. clue: atari was blazened across the screen in neon those that know the answer should log on to http://www.affordablewateralarm.com and watch a cool infomercial if you have time today.

I'll take a look at your product to see if there's a way to make it fit in there somehow. Does your company have any funds for marketing and advertisement?

In answer to your question since there is no guarantee of distribution and audience appeal I would not be in a position to offer you much for the plug. The Affordable Water Alarm is a cool product that has a place possibly in your spaceship. beam me up scottie
