I have only been trying to get my business's recognized on the internet for about a month now. One is a construction firm and the other is a photography business. I thought that I was doing pretty good at getting links established only to find out that it is not working. I have been submitting my company's to places like yellow pages online, contractor referral company's, craigs list, and art gallery sites. I did the links test from google link: http://www.eyresinphotography.com/ and it showed no links on the photography business and like 5 on the construction business. What am I doing wrong.
If it will help I will post the URL's.

probably nothing.

google takes a while to index things and even longer to update their information in back links and page rank etc...

the only link that might not count is if they have some kind of click tracker that is inbetween the link and your site itsself. The best way to find out if this is the case is to hover your mouse over the link and see what shows up in the status bar of your browser (usually the lower left hand corner), if its http://www.yoursite.com then its a direct link and google bot will appriciate it. If it says somthing like http://www.theirdomain.com/?link=outgoing&url=http://www.yourdomain.com or some veriation thereof or even worse just a whole bunch of crap that you cant read then googlebot will prolly get lost in it too.

hope that helps :)

on another note, i just noticed you use frames on your website... dont do that. Google indexes pages not domains. to google your site is going to look like this:

<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%"><tr><td>

<p align="center">
</p>

</td></tr><!--msnavigation--></table><!--msnavigation--><table dir="ltr" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%"><tr><td valign="top" width="1%"> </td><td valign="top" width="24"></td><!--msnavigation--><td valign="top">
<p>This page uses frames, but your browser doesn't support them.
<!--msnavigation--></td></tr><!--msnavigation--></table>

and it will only be one page because there are no links to follow on that page.

hey Uncle, your site has frames, one of the biggest mistakes you can make in SEO. Show me a link example on another site and I will see what you are doing wrong.

Have you installed sitemap.xml, google web masters account?

google might take time but first things first, the site has to be on-page SEOed. I also can get google to crawl the site within 2 days if I needed it to. Backlinks will take a while, at least 6 months or so but remember, time is good for SEO.

okay, here is what you do:

1. get your xml sitemap generated here: http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/ - upload it to you root folder, public_html or something.
2. sign up with google web master tools here: http://www.google.com/webmasters/ - if must have gmail account to do this, if you don't sign up, it's free. Once you have done this, go in to your webmaster tools and add the xml sitemap.

These are the first things I would do, also, are you doing business locally or inter/nationally?

Have you tried searching your domain on google, have you see the title it displays at the current moment?

Alright, what else do you need to know? If you want someone do handle this for you, check out http://www.websitedesignpeople.com.

I do local business only. I have searched google and they do come under their web names, have not done any searches by keywords yet, I figuarded that the sites are too new to show up that way.

no, the domain comes up but the title doesn't.

that is awesome that you do business locally, what keyword would you like to target?

If people are searching, I can get you the visibility on google. I know budgets are tight but think about the ROI, it is all about ROI.

On the Photographing I put in a huge list of key words and phrases, mainly about "photography" on the construction company its "remodeling" or "contracting". since I'm new to this I figured that the more keywords the better. I don't not know the term ROI. can you explain. Yesterday I tried to fix the title, thought that it was solved, sorry.

Return On Investment, the keywords you are targeting aren't correct, you need to have it geological, you will never rank for those keywords unless you spend thousands on SEO and SEM.

Yes, I saw that you changed the title but google has not crawled your site so thus the issue with title.
