I just set up my nursing agency since july this year. I have spent so much money to establish my website, set up a payroll system, infact everything is in place but yet not a single contract. It is very discouraging. I am not sure why it is so hard. Since i am also a registered nurse, i have 50 rns, 25 lpns and 30 cnas in my database who are anxious to start work for me, but no contract. I wish you good luck.

Hi there

Wow, I used to own a staffing business a few years ago.
We had a successful operation and blessed many people
with jobs. I sold the business and started a new company.
My problem with the business was getting good employees
to work after we had gotton the contracts. I am not
saying that we never had good people because we do
but sometime ther were a few that just didn't work for us.

Anyway how you can get more contracts, being there is a over supply
of nurses you want to start contacting the Hosiptals offering
your service a little cheaper than what they are paying other agencies.

Also, find out who the other agencies are working with and agian offer cheaper
rates. You may have to go farther out to get the clients you want, but when you
do this make sure that you market in the area for temps where you are getting the work.

Assisted Living homes are growing everyday make sure you start to
make contact with them as well by phone, email, direct mail.

What I would also like to see you do is get a telemarketing company
to set appointments for you and start going to meet the Human Resource Managers
lettng them know why they need to use your service. The telemarketing
worked for me it really impacted our business and turned things around greatly.

Set a goal how many companies you want to touch a day
Start calling yourself 4 hours a day and don't stop calling!

Hope this helps...... If you would like to ask more questions you can contact me@

Hi Dreamaker,

This is awesome advise you gave me. I am going to act on them all. In the meantime, do you know any good telemarketing companies in Massachusetts that could set up appointments for us in these hospitals? I would really appreciate some suggestions. Once again, thanks.

Our nurse staffing agency is about 1 year old and we only got 2 contracts for on-call nurses but never got a call from them. One facility called for nurses to work for 5 days and that was it. We found out that they have contract with more than one agencies. We cannot bid for hospital or government contracts because they need at least 2 years in the industry and hospitals require Joint Commision Certification. It's frustrating because we are paying our liabilities monthly and we don't have any income. I have lost many nurses because we weren't able to place them. I have spent at least $1000+ for telemarketing, they were able to give me only 3 leads out of about 50-90 facilities. I also tried emails and sending brochures through direct mails. Can anyone give us an advise on how to get contracts from healthcare facilities?

Hi onlychild1999

I'm impressed that you have that many nurses and CNas in your database waiting to work for you. How did you get that many nurses? Is your business in Massachusetts? May be we could come to some kind of arrangements if you are close by. I have some contracts, but not enough nurses. What do you say?

Hi Jabezz,
I have been a registered nurse (RN) for about 13 yrs. I have spent 10 of those 13 yrs as an agency nurse working for different staffing agencies at various hospitals in the DC,MD,Va area. As an RN, i have skills in ER, ICU, Med Surg, PACU, Psych, Telemetry, Cath lab. Because of my variety of skills, I was always kept busy and i had choice of which hospitals to work. This made me to network and come in contact with various nurses in the field. Infact, the current database i have was as of october. Since i donot have any contract, I have been discouraged to encourage nurses to apply. Infact, i get so many calls from lpns and cnas and i feel so bad.

I am based in Maryland, but my nurses are all from dc, md, and va. I also have cardiovascular technicians (allied health (about 3 to 4 ) of them with experience and they are looking for travel assignment. As far as the nurses go, you and i might be able to network if you have travel contract assignment in Massachussets and the pay is competitive. Pls advise. I look forward to hearing from you.
