Hi Claude,

$2000 does seem very small. Have you tried approaching family members or friends for the funds? Can your new job offer a relocation package? Or advance you a paycheck to help you get settled?

best of luck

Other members in the Community probably dont like this idea but, do you have credit cards? They usually offer cash advances. Write a check to yourself, deposit it, and bam, instant funds. Other than scratch tickets, I can only advise you to take a job waitering and save as much as you can. Look into hostels or a YMCA for temporary housing.

Well unfortunetly they are holding my job only for a short time.If I am not able to come up with the funds very soon I am going to miss out on a great job opp.I only have 1 credit card, and I cannot get such an advance.I just hope that someone will take a chance with me,and let me prove that I can pay such a small amount back.Like I said,I am willing to repay 25% more.Thank you again for your reply.

Hello Claude,

You sound very excited about the new job and that is good for you. I have a couple of suggestions, although it may not necessarily be what you want to hear:

1. Get more in detail on your profile about who you are, what the job is, why you are on this site specifically. Because otherwise it comes across as a money scam.
2. Submit a story contribution in your field or industry to show that you are skilled in the field you desire, someone may be able to identify with your story. People really do read the stories and articles, as you can see.
3. Consider asking the company for an advance, most good companies understand relocation needs. If they are not willing to help you get there, it may not really be as great of an opportunity as it seems.
4. Don't encouage people to contact you via yahoo email outside the site. It is dangerous and you may draw someone who says they will send you 5.2 million and all you have to do is wire them a transaction fee. The next thing you know your account is drained and you are being charged with fraud.
6. Target businesses and professionals in the particular area you are looking to get hired in. They will give you specific advice and stories on how they were able to get to where they are.
5. If you don't get the job, don't be discouraged. When one door closes, another always opens. If you are good at what you do, you can alway show someone else how...and an entrepreneur is born.

Hope this helps Claude; in your project to get there, in your new job and beyond.

Hi Claude,

You might want to try "social lending" sites such as:

http://www.lendingclub.com/

https://us.zopa.com/

http://www.prosper.com/

You might have some opportunities there.

Best wishes and good luck,

Hi Dennis,

That's a great list. Are you endorsing any in particular, I would love to add one as a resource to share on our site. Would also like to add your site, and possibly do a story on you. Are you available for interviews. This month we are talking about how to "Recession Proof Your Attitude"

Thanks for taking time out to help small businesses.

11. Be Ware Of Phishing Scams, targeting BoA Community Members Sep 8, 2008 10:15 AM
in response to: claude20001
Hi Claude,

This is why it is not good to solicit money like this. If you have tried several options and no one will lend you money
that means you are not a good risk and it is time for you to look for other options besides borrowing.

If you do find someone who will give you the money it will be a rip off like the one I received just for being a part of this message post. The to subject line
actually said in response to your Bank of America request, which I have not made any other than posting a reply to your question. I hope
If you got this too you did not respond. This is also why I said you need to update your profile so that you don't come across as someone being involved
in such phishing scams. Unfortunately we are avoiding any further activity like this because of such phishing scams. If you would like other
questions answered please contact us directly. I know it may seem like you want the money no matter how you get it, but be ware of the one who
is willing to lend it to you after everyone else says no. If it is not an angel investor than at this point just don't set yourself up for worse financial
trouble by getting taken advantage by a con artist.

Warmest regards,
Andrea
